I'm upgrading to a 6ft tank this week from my current 4ft setup. I plan to bring over the two MP40's for the side walls but believe that I will need more flow (SPS heavy). My initial thought was to put two more MP40's on the back pane of glass, but the space I'm in is already tight and I really don't want to have to pull the tank that much further from the wall to accommodate the huge MP40 dry side. My follow-up thought is to add two Reefwave 45's to the back of the tank. I'm wondering if this will be overkill with the flow as the tank is only about 26" in depth.

I have a center overflow and a lot of rockwork. So I mounted two gyres vertically on either side of the overflow to help detritus from settling behind the rock.

Thanks. May I ask how large your tank is and how ramped up you have the gyres set at?
7ft long, 260g. I also have 2 return lines split into 4 loclines, two jebaeo wavemakers on either side, and a uv plumbed to/from the display.

I have a gyre on my front and rear panel.

6ft peninsula tank.

Here's an older picture, you can see the back side of the tank gyre (right side).

I'm running a 6 foot 180gal with 2 of the icecap 4k gyres. Both mounted on backwards on either side of overflows. I run them in four different directions and love the flow

Did you put the mounting magnets inside the overflow? Or are they attached to the back of the tank?

Technically, the 'dry-side' magnets are supposed to be sealed. But, I've had some on both 330s and 350s that have hairline cracks in the plastic. They're still perfectly usable outside the tank ... but wouldn't be usable underwater.

So, if you do intend to use the dry-sides in an overflow, inspect them VERY carefully before doing so.
