I'm trying to get a hold of some Dove snails (columbellid snails), not lightning dove, to hopefully help eat some fine algae growth on a couple of macros. Anyone seen any around or have any to sell? I saw that Indo-pacific sea farms used to sell them, but don't have them listed anymore. I sent them an e-mail, but I can't find anywhere else in the US that has them for sale. Thanks.

Yeah, looks that way to me too. They were also sold as "mini strombus" so you might look around under that name.

I could only find lightning doves from them, which seem to be easier to find but unfortunately not the same as regular dove snails.
I run the coral farm for Living Reef Orlando, we have them breeding in one of our farm tanks. I could probably send some your way.

How do you know difference from lightning dove to columbellid snails, I was told mine are dove as they are generally everywhere else, rocks and glass laying eggs like mad, I only added 5 narcuriuis snails in Nov, but think these 'dove' was mistaken for narcuriuis thanks

Those look like dove snails. Similar to some we have reproducing. Some have mild “lightning” like striping but not nearly as intense as true lightning dove snails. Some are more plain cream, tan, brown.

They are both from the family Columbellidae.

I could be mistaken, but I believe 'Euplica' is the genus for the snails in question (those sold once upon a time by Indo-Pacific Sea Farms as 'Nano Conch Grazers', or something like that). I had a great, stable population out of some given to me by a local aquarist, but this was years ago before I exited the hobby for a while.

If anyone has some available, or knows where to obtain some, please PM me!

I'm also looking for dove snails for the same reason as poster. Anyone know where I can find some? Does Living Reef Orlando still have any?
