Hi all,
Am looking at upgrading to MP's,my tank is 60x24x20 high.
Since I plan on using dual MP's wondering if MP10's would be enough for an SPS only tank,I just think that dual 40's on a 60” seems to be overkill.
I wish they had a pump in the middle of the 10 and 40.
Can anyone one comment?
Thanks for the help.

I dont think a pair of MP10s will be sufficient. Even on a 48" tank, a single MP40 isn't enough. Besides, I presume your glass thickness will be too much for a MP10?

SPS only? I agree with @TheHarold -- MP10s would not be sufficient on that size aquarium. Sorry to be a downer but at that footprint I think dual MP40s would be the absolute minimum for an SPS only tank.

Im upgrading to a 60x30x20” tank and currently have 2 mp40s considering getting a 3rd mp40 for the tank because I don’t think it will be sufficent

I am currently using 2 MP10WQD pumps on my 20G SPS dominate tank currently. Tank is currently loaded to the max with mostly new SPS frags. It's only maxed out @ 33% just to give you context on the potential with SPS dominate tank.

I have a 62x30x24h tank sps dominant tank, I tried a few different setups..

2x mp40qd on the left side and 1 mp60 1 mp40 on the right, flow was ok but tank was too long and I know that once my colonies grew out it would not be enough flow.

I went with the following setup

1 tunze stream 3 in the back blowing from left to right side of the tank, 2 mp40 on the left and 1 mp60 on the right, this was more than enough flow. I actually had to turn the pumps down from 80% to about 40% to prevent sand storms.

You don’t think the mp60 is too strong for 60” tank?

No, I was actually running 2 mp40qd on my previous 36"x24"20h tank, I had them on different modes but at highest it was ramped up to 80%. It was a sps dominant tank so I had a lot of decent size colonies. I guess it also depends on what you planning to keep too.

I think you have your answer but I run two mp10’s on my 120 and still needed two 330 gyres to get the flow I wanted. Once the corals get some size I plan to add one or two gyres to the back wall to run in forward and reverse alternately . 60 inches of water is a lot. I run 350 gyres and mp40’s in my 60”
