So I took advantage of the big liquidation sale TB Aquatics had and bought a few items I will use for a future build. Anyone who shopped at the website during this time got some great deals, ok AWSOME DEALS! So one of the big purchases was a Reef Octopus Regal 250ext, which was an incredible deal. I received it a few weeks back sealed and in good condition. Last night as I was finally setting it up I noticed the pump was the updated VariouS6 with new controller, awesome! The only problem is the Volute is wrong and will not fit the skimmer. dang! I contacted Reef Octopus support and submitted a ticket with proof of purchase and pictures of the concern. At first I was contacted by a representative Angie Brumfield. She was nice and apologetic about my problem. She asked for my address and said they would send out the correct part. Then my ticket was intercepted by another representative Chris Conti who asked for my phone number. Thats where I started to get a bad feeling. He called me and the first thing he asked me was "if I knew that this was a $915 skimmer". I said yes thats why a bought it at the low price it was posted for, from and authorized seller may I add. He basically said since I paid so low for this skimmer that they wouldn't honor the warranty. Then he told me some dumb assumption that the seller must have switched out the pumps and thats why it doesn't fit. So basically he told me since I saved so much money when I bought it that I should buy the correct part from their web site! WHAT BUSINESS IS IT TO HIM WHAT I PAID FOR IT WHEN IT WAS FROM AN AUTHORIZED SELLER LIQUIDATING HIS STOCK. So thats the sour taste in my mouth that this company left today. Such a big company hurting for a $30 part. I will buy that part since he basically said it was that or return the whole skimmer back to the now out of business TB Aquatics. Just a heads up to anyone that will need warranty stuff from Reef Octopus. If I can go back I would black out the price on the proof of purchase.
