Apex not connected to Fusion

So I lost power last night and now the Apex is not connected to Fusion. I have re-set it and re-booted several times but still no luck. Sure is annoying. Anybody have any ideas on what to do? It seems to still be running the Dos and stuff. Just not connecting to internet. I don't have my lights or pumps hooked up to it, thankfully. Makes me wonder how guys who actually use this to control their system will do if the APEX crashes. I imagine it could be catastrophic.

Fusion doesn't control the Apex, thankfully, its justa way to observe it and program it. Lets see if we can get you some help.

Actually your Apex will run fine without fusion - as noted fusion is only a view via internet/cloud. You could always access Apex via apex local. Try restarting your router first, then restart your apex.

Actually your Apex will run fine without fusion - as noted fusion is only a view via internet/cloud. You could always access Apex via apex local. Try restarting your router first, then restart your apex.
how do you do apex local?

I would think that Neptune would have some customer service on weekends. I emailed them this morning and no reply.

Couple of things to try.
First, you can try to access Apex Local, by typing apex.local into your browser.
If you renamed your Apex system, it will be newname.local instead.
Assuming you're on wifi, if you can access Local from your browser, it means the wifi connection is working and the issue is probably with how the router transfers that signal to the internet.
You can also try setting your Apex to a static IP address. This can be done from the Network page by disabling DHCP, and setting the local IP address with a relatively high last octet (xxx.xxx.xxx.100 or higher) to avoid conflicts with other devices. Then reboot. Should look something like this when done.

On the same page, you can also look at your Wifi setup and make sure everything there is correct.
If none of that works, you can try resetting and reconfiguring the Wifi connection. Described here.
I'd also recommend putting the Apex on a UPS or battery backup. The Apex really doesn't like power failures.

how do you do apex local?

The standard way to connect is by browsing to http://apex.local but that assumes you haven't changed the default Hostname of the Apex under its network settings. For example, mine is http://SuncrestApex.local


try this in your browser -> http://10.0.0.156/

@Mical This is not a standard IP address for everyone. This is unique to your network.

If http://apex.local does not work and you don't know your hostname, log into your router to look through the list of connected devices to try to identify your Apex. Then browse to that IP address.

If its the classic then follow

Once you have the IP then you can login via your web browser b y typing that adddress in the browser bar. I believe the default login is " admin " password " 1234 "

I Haven't changed the default hostname. Maybe I am showing my poor technical ability but when I put http://apex.local I just got site could not be reached?

Let's start with the basics:
  • What model of Apex do you have? Is it the newer Apex 2016/Apex-EL, or is it the older Apex Classic/Apex Jr?

  • Assuming it's the newer model, I'm guessing you have it connected via WiFi. Or do you have it connected by Ethernet cable?

  • What color is the Neptune logo light? It should be orange. If it's blue, then it's in WiFi Setup mode and will require additional steps to get it connected.
Once I have these answers, I can provide additional guidance.

I don't know the apex.local didn't work and now it has gone from having an orange light to a blue light.

It is a newer APEX, and it is in WIFI mode and the light has gone from an orange to a blue

Once this is complete the Apex will reboot, then it should have a solid orange logo and will connect to the Internet and Fusion.

I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I finally got it back up and running. Thanks to everyone who had suggestions, I appreciate it!!!!

Just want to mention for anyone else that might come across this thread searching for troubleshooting in the future - apex.local doesn't always seem to work from mobile chrome for me! Works fine from my laptop, but I think my phone tries jumping to mobile data and drops connection with the Apex.
