Funny I had a conversation with Neptune Customer Service yesterday regarding their Solenoid...told them I am sending it back...I went with this one from Amazon (Motorized and it does NOT get hot)

Solenoids when powerd continuously can get hot. This valve is a motorized valve that when it reaches the full closed or on state it cuts the power from the motor so it doesn't get hot. When the input power changes the motor will still switch to the proper state open or closed.

Yeah, what he just said...lol...couldn't say it better....but the folks at Neptune did acknowledge their solenoid does get extremely HOT but also said it would not catch fire (my fear it would is what I expressed to them and why I would return it).
