I would say water level sensors but I am not an Apex user. Need to keep track of the water level if you are using it to control an ATO are monitor the ATO if you already have one.

I would say the salinity and ATO Sensors... ( i have two ATOs on my set-up) APEX FMM during the Day and Icecap ATO at night, since the tank is in the same room that I sleep in...(Nothing worst than being woken up to a loud FMM.ATO at 3am)

I would go with the FMM module, for monitoring leaks and water level.

Then I would go with Trident for alkalinity monitoring.

This is just not APEX related... Controllers dont fit the bill, bad wording now as most devices offer up that... its more monitering what is going on.. then if you want Skynet ability you can live or die by that. I for one just want information provided to my with the tech we have.

I love my trident. I check numbers with the hanna checkers once in a while now just to have a comparison, always seem to be very close to one another.

Less time monitoring and more time enjoying my tank equals happiness at my little ocean.

Just got my trident and I can’t believe how easy to set up it is. They say 15 min but that’s for watching g the YouTube videos. If you know what to do it’s less than 5 min.

But back to the original question:
3. Water level sensor (for ATO and other related function

4. leak detector.

I would say that depends on your situation. If you're keeping coral the definitely ALK. If not, I'm really not sure (I've always kept reefs vs FOWLER's).
The Trident was a godsend when I got it, checking the big 3 parameters multiple times a day with no input needed from me? Yes please!
