I'm searching for an Aqua UV 25w unit and I'm seeing prices that are all over the place. BRS is $409. A koi pond place also has it for $238. Saltwater Aquarium splits the difference at $309. Are these the same Aqua UV 25w units? The unit below doesn't come with the wiper, but it looks like wiper use on saltwater voids the warranty anyway.

It's insane how expensive these units have become. It's just a PVC housing and transformer......

I can't speak for any specific seller but they are likely all the same.

And note: the 25w and the 57w have the same housing and bulb lengths. You can purchase the 57w transformer and voila your 25w unit is now a 57w (need the 57w bulb too).

The wipers are garbage IMO. I bought a used 25w, converted to 57w and took out the wiper and plugged the hole.

You can get the 25w transformer for $75-$100. The bulb is $57. So basically $125-150 for the bulb and transformer.

How much is the PVC housing worth? Certainly not $250!

Thanks. They all *look* the same, but each site lists part number differently, so it's hard to tell. Do you run yours for algae or pests? What flow rate/pump do you use?

They all use the same replacement bulbs. You'll probably need to replace every 6 months. Really not much to them at all. I suppose the transformer quality may vary, otherwise?

I actually have two units. I have the 114w, which is just two 57w configured together. That's in my sump and I run it with a Jebao at about 750gph.

My 57w I use directly in the DT to eradicate dinos. It was a 25w I had on and old tank. Made it a 57w just for the dinos and it worked like a charm. Around 900gph through that one.

Not a chance in $&#+ I'd pay $1700 for the 114w (aquauv list price) or even $1000 at a retailer. I bought mine years ago.

Buy from the cheapest place, AquaWarehouse has an online store, they are a LFS in San Diego and they have lots of product on the shelf and carry all the bits for Aqua UV and also sell them for a good price

I use for water clarity and algae control. From what I understand, it has minimal effect on pest control (aside from dinos) unless you have a massive unit.

What is the name of the website where it is found for $238.00?
