I use a reef octopus skimmer bh 1000 model, I'm not sure what the aqua max is rated for.

The aquamaxx would be great on your size tank. With any hob skimmer, water level is very important so a ato will be extremely valuable. Good luck :)

With your sized tank, I would go with a larger skimmer. You want a skimmer rated for roughly double the size of your tank.

With crappy skimmers this is usually the case however the aquamaxx is built right and well equipped for a 65 heavily stocked reef, IMO.

You are right I read some good reviews about this skimmer and if I take all LR out will be like 45 gal to skim, and is rated for 75 gal
