Fellow Reefers,

I would like to glue my frag plugs to rocks and was wondering how good is aquamend. I saw it at the store and it can do the job under water.

Any one currently using anything like this?

Please give suggestions because I cannot take out the rock out of water.

Works like a champ.

Cut off a small portion, and knead it together mixing the green and white colors until it looks grey/white. Roll into a little ball and put a glob of superglue on the bottom of the ball. Stick the ball (superglue side towards plug) onto the plug and slightly twist it. Quickly place another bolb of superglue on the bottom of the ball and affix to a rock, gently twisting it into the rock as well. Do not touch it to re-adjust as it won't adhere, just let it be. Make sure to work quickly with the Aquamend, as you only have about 45-60 seconds after fully mixing it before it starts to harden. Once it even remotely starts to harden it's useless (this goes for all epoxy like this).

Also, I always break off the stem of the plug while doing this unless you have a specific nook/cranny that it will fit into.

BTW, it works without the superglue but not nearly as well ;)

Thats what I use as well. It works great, and is cheap at Lowe's
Unless you have to buy 10 tubes at a time like me :)

I do exactly the same thing. When I was setting up my new tank, I bought as much of it and superglue gel as I could. I think the lady at the cash register thought I was crazy. BTW, the Lowes around me stopped carrying it! I was so mad. Home Depot still carries it though. Have all the Lowes stopped carrying it?

I would but my Lowes dont carry it :(

It should be right over in the epoxy/glue section. It comes in a green tube about 4in long.

If not - they have it at Home Depot.

Neither carry it here and dont know why. I been all over both stores and asked them when you can find somebody that it. We have a new Lowes that opened up bout 25 miles from me think I'll stop by and see if they have it.

can you tell me for how long should I switch off the skimmer?

Just to be safe, I would leave it off for 15-30 minutes. You can leave it running but you will more than likely either overflow it or send all sorts of lovely microbubbles into the display.

Just another tip or find at least, the "everything's a $1" store around here carries a pack that has 5 tubes of Superglue gel for $1!!! I think I have enough superglue gel to last me a while :)

Why use the epoxy? I just use gel superglue, put a blob on the plug and squish it into the rock. I never have a problem with that and is seems so much more simple and less expensive than using epoxy and superglue together.
