First, a big thanks to @AquaticLifeProducts for giving me the opportunity to give these a shot.

I will be using this thread as a review for these bulbs. 48” Led Royal Blue 54w t5 replacement bulbs. I’ll try my best to answer questions from my shared experience. This is the first time I’ll be using these.

I have been using blue+ as my supplement in my fixture for awhile now, so I have big expectations as I know what my reef has liked so far.

A little background on my setup and myself. Currently I have a 220gal, 60x36x24, this tank has been going for roughly 3yrs, but, technically everything was brought over from my old tank, which was 10yrs old. So theoretically my rock, some corals, and a few fish, have been with me for 13yrs.

It is connected to a 40br as a sump, and also have a 34gal observation tank, a 5gal “pod” bucket, and a 55gal that houses my diy ats. I guesstimate around 250 actual gallons, so nothing to crazy.

My lighting started as the ORIGINAL hydras, then I upgraded to hydra26hds. Then I added the non dimmable Aquatic Life Hybrid fixture, since pretty much when it was released. It has housed 4-26hds, 2-Blue+, and 2-Actinic, all ATI, the entire time.

That’s it for now, I’ll start a new post moving forward with pics/etc...

Are the new led tubes plastic or glass?
Ty
D
They’re plastic

Also, here is a side view of the bulb, the “top side” of the bulb is sort of diffused, and grayed out, which my guess is to hide the inside circuitry.

I will be installing mine on Wednesday morning the 21st, as I’ll be home all day that day.

Lowering my canopy for the first power up. Added a orange filter...

Apex power monitoring is showing about a 13watt decrease in consumption. I will keep my eye on this as they age/break in...if any.

Hopefully I can get ahold of a par meter in a timely fashion.

After a full first day of running, which for me is about 5hrs of supplement, I seen an average decrease of about 20watts compared to the blue+ at the end of the day.

That’s all I have to report for now, @AquaticLifeProducts .

@AquaticLifeProducts , can you provide any spec information for these? Like diodes used? Lens/optics? Any wavelength tests/graphs? Just curious.

Thanks!

For example...ATI Blue Plus...

Is that the aquatic life hybrid fixture? It looks much wider than that one that I've seen online. I didn't realize you could mount LEDS in that direction.

Yes aquatic life hybrid, the non dimmable version.

I have installed the wider side brackets to accommodate my 36” WIDTH tank. My DT is 60x36x24, so making the fixture wider has helped with my setup. You must also purchase the wider/longer led brackets.

Thanks! Just trying to gather all I can.
Looks like PLCC2 package size
Chip? But most run at about 20mA each.
3.2v approx.

Calling them royal blue is a bit of a stretch but 460 is a good wavelength.

How many diodes in a 4ft tube?

I counted 160 give or take a few. Although I had them off, looking upside down was tough haha. I will do a recount in a bit
Rough count is fine.. Only seeing about 10W out of a tube at that count if "I" built it w/ available parts though.
Depends on diodes used of course.

They list it as "54W replacement" so not expecting 54 out of it..
Would prefer it more than 10W though.. ;)
Keep in mind this is diode watts not system watts.
There are power supply and resistor losses

I seen an average decrease of about 20watts compared to the blue+ at the end of the day.
That's per tube right?
