If I remember correctly, the fixtures are right around an inch longer than the rated bulb.. so a 48" will be right around 49 long. Dont quote me though. That includes the endcaps...

That dimension does not include the added length of the endcaps.. I have the 24 inch and it is 24 inches till I add the endcaps.. it adds about an inch over the 24.. Just measured.. it is 23 and a half without and 25 with..

Just length - I have a hood and it’s just over 48”

The length for each fixture is right under 1" longer than the stated fixture's length, so I'd safely say the 48" is 49" and the 36" is 37".

My tank is 96" in length and I was unable to fit two 48" in the canopy because of the extra 1.75" in combined length.
