Aquatop 40 g Recife AIO skimmer upgrade

Does anyone have the Aquatop AIO 40 gallon and the Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB protein skimmer? Questioning whether the protein skimmer fits in the return pump spot. My light back brace won't let me put the protein skimmer elsewhere.

It would fit, but the water won't be high enough. It will go in the chamber beside the overflow I think. Going that route myself with my Aquatop 40.

Bump. The skimmer that came with this tank just went out. I'm looking at the Reef Octopus Classic 100 HOB as a replacement. Anyone have this or other replacement skimmers for this tank?

Hey there, I forgot to update this. I purchased the Aquamaxx 1.5 HOB skimmer and I am currently using it.

It would fit in the skimmer chamber, but I didn't fit it in the skimmer chamber because I have my heater there and didn't want to remove it. I currently have it hanging on the side.

You can find it for around $199 searching on Google. I bought it from Marine Depot for $219 I think. It's the best skimmer I have ever used, HOB wise. It's fantastic and doesn't take long to break in.

Yea, adjust your band for your collection cup height, to where the bottom is even with the top sticker of Aquamaxx. That is about the best overall height. I will attach a Pic. Glad to answer anymore questions if you have any.

Just installed the skimmer. Does the clear insert need to be installed after assembly?

Yes it does. Put it in after you put the pump and everything in.

Bumping your thread. Can one of you guys post a pic of how you mounted the HOB on your skimmer chamber? I’m looking to purchase myself but want to confirm it fits before dropping the coin.
