**V3 has been designed. I just need to do some fitting to make sure the it works in the 40 Gallon.
This will also include a NEW 24 Gallon model. The updates bring some different dimensions as well as it now holds the Innovative Marine Felt Filter Socks!! This allows a felt filter sock over the red sea mesh as well as a bigger opening allowing for better filtration. You can also just run the filter shelfs if you don't want to run a sock or prefer filter floss.**

Got the media basket drawn up. After lots of consideration we decided on having a couple of media trays. In the included picture we had two circle cutouts. One for the Innovative Marine 2.75" filter sock and the other for the Red sea nano 2" filter sock.

This would come in a DIY kit allowing you to place the trays in whatever orientation you would like before gluing it down.

Overall the media basket would not stick up past the top of the tank and would go all the way to the bottom allowing plenty of space if you choose a filter sock

Cool idea. I could never figure anything special out for mine so I just started putting filter floss on top of the stock sponge and then clean it out when it gets dirty.

For anyone interested I have ordered the materials and they will be in hopefully tuesday. (Ordered a full 4'x8' sheet but needs to be cut to fit the laser hence the few days on cutting). As mentioned by another on this forum there is a strip of glass on the corner of the chamber that we need to accommodate for. I will be meeting with my buddy and drawing in that protrusion into the final design and should be cutout for test fitting next week. I attached a picture of the pump side just for reference. It seems all of the Aquatop tanks have this including the 24g.

Update!


Had the pieces for the first prototype cut out today. After a lot of back and forth we came up with this design. Offering the most flexibility and customization for people buying it.

Unfortunately because of the size limitation on the tank, we couldn't figure a clean way to install the water box 2.75" filter sock. We did however accommodate the red sea max nano 2" filter sock.

No where local was open and had acrylic glue (it's different than super glue) available so tomorrow will be flow testing and seeing if there is any issues with fitment.

The media basket fit great! the tolerances are a little big so we can tighten them up in the next version. So far I have enjoyed having it in my tank and dont really have anything drastic to change.

you can position the platform however you would like. Because I wanted to run a filter sock this is what I chose. I only glued the bottom supports so technically this can be repositioned if need be later.

After 2 days if having it installed I can say it definitely filters the tank! I like having both the floss and the sock. No issues with flow or restriction. Definitely a good improvement!
