How are you and Aqueon 50w adjustable heater. I got it at pet smart. You would need a smaller size I’m sure they have them. I’ve never had a problem ever with my heater
Thanks for the suggestion. I have not yet found one and I will take a look at this one.

Update: Just checked the cycle and the ammonia has gone down to zero. I dosed back up to 2PPM ammonia and if its all gone by tomorrow at 7:15pm I should be good to go and will begin adding my chaeto and a couple of snails after a water change. Still taking things slowly. I will does phyto for the pods inside my chaeto and drop a couple of frozen brine or pellets in to keep something in there for the snails to eat while i start gathering corals and algea.

Update: Have been meaning to post but I keep forgetting. Cycle is done and I did my big water change. I added (3) astrea snails , (1) chunk of my refugium chaeto with pods,(1) gorgonian, and (1) nassarius snail. Everyone looks to be doing well and I also dosed some phyto for the pods. I will slowly start adding more corals and algea. I will be purchasing a small siphon and a small algea scraper along with the heater next. The next item on the list will be the reef glass skimmer. Any other suggestions?

Small Update: The tank is in the diatom stage now, did my first water change on it this weekend. I siphoned the sand and fed some more phyto. I will be buying some more corals hopefully this weekend and maybe a bottle of pods to really stock the tank. The Aqueon heater actually fit perfectly into the small tank, thanks @Paulie069

Update: Tank is doing well and the chaeto is really starting to grow. I have not gotten anymore major equipment for the tank and we are still taking it very slow. I do water changes and swap out the filter floss every week.

So nice update- it’s been a while and I still have not got the horses. Apart from nobody having any I’ve been acquiring some more gorgonians. This is my tank so far. I have amphipods, tisbe pods, and tigger pods. It’s crazy full of pods in there so there’s some good snacking in between feedings for the horses, constant 72 degrees in the tank. If anyone knows of someone selling some horses let me know, I’m ready lol

Really awesome Update- Got (3) pairs of seahorses from mysaltwaterfishstore.com (Foxy saltwater tropical) and they are all healthy as can be, only one loss. It’s been about 2 days and one of the males has given birth! I count (5) baby dwarf seahorses! Everyone is actively swimming and eating pods/ twice a day feedings of freshly hatched brown shrimp everyday, I am going to do small water changes every 3 days and all they have is filter floss. I had a bit of a strong flow so I covered the return pump with a bit of filter floss, something that would allow the water to return to the tank without getting clogged. Anyways here are some pictures! Is birth the sign of happy seahorses?

Quick Update- So all the seahorses and babies are doing well, they get fed fresh hatched brine shrimp (2) to (3) times a day. They are all eating and active. I had to do a bit of a filter change though because they kept swimming to the intake side of my all in one filter to eat the baby brine that got stuck on there, so in turn I had some stuck to the intake grill and some sucked into the all in one filter. They all survived because I got them out right away. I decided to take out my all in one and get a sponge filter with a biological media attachment. The sponge works much better with a slower flow so the horses no longer get sucked in anywhere and they are not afraid to constantly swim around. Here are some pics.

Update: So as i was checking on the horses this morning and giving them their first feeding of the day... and I saw yet another baby! I now have (6) babies total with (5) adults. I might be selling some once they reach mating age! all horses get fed freshly hatched baby brine, and i do water changes every 3 to 4 days.

These guys are awesome and that's a great tank you have going! My whole reason for wanting to get into saltwater was to setup a tank for these guys. I'd done the research, started culturing live food and getting my tank list ready only to then find out you can't get them in Canada anymore because they're on the CITES list and no one seems to want to do the paperwork to bring them in. I hoped to find local breeders but that trail went cold. If anyone in Canada is breeding these guys please let me know. I had to rethink my whole tank after this setback.

I am so envious of you I want to cry!! ;) I'm definitely following along to see how they do. They certainly look happy!! Good for you!!

I didn't either. I was heartbroken!!! I should've known there was something up when almost every post about these guys up here stopped about ten years ago. There are local places doing the bigger guys (erectus, etc) but that's because they're not restricted. Thanks for keeping your eyes/ears open for Canadian folks!! I would move to the US just to be able to keep these guys!! Haha.

So not so good/good update- I came home to find one of my females had passed. She would randomly float to the top of the tank and not eat, but she wouldn’t do this regularly so I didn’t think she had the air sac issue, possible a bladder issue? Well now I’m done to (2) males, (2) females, and (6) babies. On the good note I think one of my males is carrying more young. I might see some more babies these coming weeks. Everyone else looks good and are eating /active. Hopefully I lose no more and gain more babies. I added more to my cleanup crew today and some red dragons flame algea.
