I've been around for awhile within the last 10 or so years they ushio joined BLV for the aquatic bulbs as a subsidiary that's why all of these companies bulbs say made in Germany because they sub contract BLV to mfg

Reefaholic, Do u have a build thread so I can see your tank.

I do but it’s not updated. You can click on my build thread banner. Here’s a recent pic. The tank just hit one year. I’ve changed from several different 2-parts, had a Core7 crash, and now I’m Switching to a CaRx. It amazing that I’ve had any growth. :)

Your tank looks good. I used to run two part and switched to a GEO 612x2 CARx and I'm definitely happier running the CaRx.

I’ve avoided one for years due to the initial cost, extra large equipment in the house, and having to fill the dumb CO2 bottles.

However, I finally gave in this year. :)

Just picked up the Giesemann Infiniti for $500 only used 2-3 years. Bulbs have about half their life left but I have to switch out the halides they are the Giesemann Megachrome corals which are way to white/yellow for my taste. Don’t mind the boards lol have to pick up a hanging kit.

I have always wondered how those tiny reflectors get good performance. I have used other brands long ago with the same type of reflectors and never had good coverage.

Well at the moment it’s only 7-7.5” off the water. I have to raise it a few more when I get the hanging kit. And even that close it fully blankets my 125

Yea I think the ballasts have a big part of it along with mounting height. But mainly I got only good par underneath the bulb but again it was a cheap fixture a long time ago. I would hope geismann has all the bumps smoothed out in that type of fixture by now :)

It is actually the reflector material that makes a HUGE difference. Good reflectors use high quality dimpled aluminum that is actually made in Germany. And the geiseman has such material in it.

The reflector material is soo important that commercial green houses typically throw the reflective material out and replace it every year instead of trying to get it clean.

Why ATI t5 reflectors put out soo much light... the reflector material. Anyways... nice fixture man!
