Hi All,

I am new to reef tanks and this forum has been incredibly helpful for finding information. I greatly appreciate it! I searched previous threads for things growing on the shell of one of my snails. Based on what I have read, I think what is in the images I attached are vermetid snails. However, pictures from other posts were different enough that I am not certain. What do you all think?

Thanks!

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Those look like vermetids to me; as they mature, their shells will sort of periscope up from their substrate, so they can suspend their snotty nets higher in the water column.

Thanks for the confirmation! I've read they can cover coral and polyps with thier mucus web potentially killing them. Should I work to remove them from the snail shell?
