We talked about build threads yesterday and today I wanted to press you on something else I was thinking about pertaining to sharing build thread photos or just how you share your tank in general with others. More specifically how do you feel about your tank and does that play a factor in how you share it via photos on the forum or LIVE with people visiting your home. Let's talk about it!

1. Are you proud or embarrassed of your reef tank?

2. Does how you feel about your tank play a role in whether or not you share it with others and should it?

How about sharing a current photo of your reef tank in this thread?

Here is my current 400g, no skimmer, no water changes, no cleaning in well over a year. Just the glass. See how I'm making excuses??

I am officially neither proud or embarrassed.

Pretty proud. Unlike in my previous, neglected system, I am actually sticking to a maintenance schedule, and the effort is showing in my macroalgaes’ health :).

2. Does how you feel about your tank play a role in whether or not you share it with others and should it?
Not really, it just depends on whether or not something exciting is happening in my system.

Proud now...but there have been times I'm glad I don't have many 'reefing' friends visiting the house. Never really embarrassed - I don't shame anyone, even myself. Reefing is tough, miss a week or two maintenance or try a new technique and it can get away from you. And sometimes I think my tank just wants to mess with me when I'm feeling good. This post will likely have a bad karma reaction. Sigh.

Not proud (several months ago after a vacation and before ATS):

Proud (a week ago, finally got the ATS working right):

1. I'm proud of my tank....or at least was until I scrolled down to see @Paleozoic_reefer tank, now I'm not so sure.

2. Of course it does, most people, myself included, don't want to show off their tanks whenever they have an algea issue. I think that's one of the issues with the hobby. People who are just starting look online at tanks and only see the good. They don't see the frequent algea blooms that the tank went through to become the beautiful tank it is in the pictures.

The ‘frag tank’ is also ok at approaching 6 years old

I'm proud it hasn't burned to the ground after 7 months. I'm not proud of how much I am tempted to muck with it instead of LEAVING. THE. CORALS. ALONE. and I have a few losses that still bother me. I feel I could have been better. I just got a derasa clam and it turned on its side. I righted it and noticed it had hinge missing on the left side. Croaked two days later. I don't like being directly or indirectly responsible for the death of livestock that depends on me to flourish. So still kind of ashamed about that aspect. The learning curve is more like a cemetery if you're not careful. My corals are growing finally now that I'm dosing 2 part, so eventually I'll feel that pride.

Some days are better than others lol
I have one tank that im super happy with that pretty much takes care of itself aside from manual testing and dosing.
The other is a total wreck and probably going to tear down and start over with.

Haha yes I absoloutely love the lagoon I spend about a half hour a week on it.
The other I just kind of let go while I was building lagoon. There's an 8" porcupine puffer in tank 2 that likes to keep nitrates at kool-aid levels. My wife absoloutely loves the fish he's like a little puppy honestly. Kind of in tough spot with him. I could set up an ats or figure out other means to handle nutrients. But he's quite messy. Likes to tear up rock and not sure how he's going to do with corals I have planned for the tank. I may just end up setting up a tank for her pufferfish honestly. Idk lol

I’m proud! There’s always something I can be doing better - currently I have about 100 aptasia that I’ve let get the better of me, thinking of an order of berghia soon , a guy breeds them near me and they’re cheap and I’ll also do my part I bought lemons but been lazy lol

next tank plans will be anemone focused with a tessalata eel !
