We talked about build threads yesterday and today I wanted to press you on something else I was thinking about pertaining to sharing build thread photos or just how you share your tank in general with others. More specifically how do you feel about your tank and does that play a factor in how you share it via photos on the forum or LIVE with people visiting your home. Let's talk about it!

1. Are you proud or embarrassed of your reef tank?

2. Does how you feel about your tank play a role in whether or not you share it with others and should it?

How about sharing a current photo of your reef tank in this thread?

Here is my current 400g, no skimmer, no water changes, no cleaning in well over a year. Just the glass. See how I'm making excuses??

I am officially neither proud or embarrassed.

What are the dimensions of your tank? Currently I have a 75g set up and a 150g in the garage waiting to upgrade to. I currently have 3 tangs. A several year old yellow a juvenile clown tang and a Blonde Naso just starting to get her adult colors. I know the blonde is gonna get big and that is my baby. And I know eventually I’m gonna need a bigger tank than the 150g. Wife has already given me the ok to upgrade from that when the time comes. . So just kinda wondering how big I’m gonna need to go space wise when she reaches a foot long or better. Lol

My tank is 8x3x2 at close to 400g.

Proud of my tank, embarrassed by my wire management

2. Does how you feel about your tank play a role in whether or not you share it with others and should it?

To be honest, not really. While I don’t like the pile of spaghetti of wires behind my tank, I share it anyway. You got to be real to be trusted. If you don’t share what you can’t do well why should anyone believe you when you share what you can do well.

(All that being said, if anyone in the Tampa area would like to come help me with wire management (something I clearly suck at) we could make it into a learning video for my YouTube channel: Mr. Reef Safe.)

Recently moved and upgraded my tank to a 65 system, Its been setup about a month ago. Currently embarrassed because there is not that much coral nor fish. And a got a coat of hair algae on some of the rocks - due to the skimmer not working properly at first. Waiting for my new ATS to start growing algae. Embarrassed because its not as pretty as the previous 20 gallon it was in, but come January ill be proud....hopefully lol

I’m pretty proud of my tank. It’s been a month and half about with it up and running. My water is crystal clear. Which was my biggest fear for some reason. I lost a pair of clowns in the beginning. Still don’t know why because my waters been pretty spot on. They just stopped eating one day then the rest was history. I’ve kind of chocked it up to being they were from petco. My coral frags are still pretty small so my tank pictures look like a FOWLR at the moment which is fine too. I enjoy looking at those tanks as well. Besides loosing those 2 clowns everything else has been going great and the 2 blood Orange clowns I replaced them with are happy and very lively. I just added a white tail tang yesterday which he’s pretty shy but seems to be warming up. Wish sometimes it wasn’t so costly. The first year is the hardest they say and I’m definitely looking forward to living on easy street someday. I don’t think anyone should be ashamed at sharing a picture of a tank covered in green hair algae or anything! We’ve all been there! No reason to bash on it either. Instead of bashing I think it’s nice when an experienced reefer chimes in to help solve the issue. I feel as if the hobby isn’t as popular as it should be.

I'm pretty proud of my tank. So far I have been doing alright with it. I'm still new and haven't had a lot of experience, and my tank doesn't look nearly as good as most other people's on here, but I love having a little piece of the ocean in my home. It brings me so much joy, and helps with my depression. Despite the fact that it's not the pretties tank out there I'm still always talking about it to people and showing pictures of all my little babies. It just blows me away that I can have these incredible creatures in my house! I'm excited to learn more and make my tank better!

Tank looks great! Being happy/proud or your tank is key, not comparing it to other people’s setups. If you have your tank in a place where it brings you joy and makes you proud, you are winning. I didn’t share any pictures of my tank for the first year or so I had it set up. But I have loved it every day. Even when I came home from a trip and found a few dead corals. Then I can put on my detective hat and figure out what I did wrong and how I can improve my setup.

you’re off to a strong start, happy reefing!
