thanks for advice. new RO tubing, though.
Monkiboy, I confirmed this was due to evaporation at the end of the tube. I have a few suggestions. First I would recommend putting the check valve at the very end, this will make the tube smaller which will have less exposure to drying out since very little solution will be at the end of the tube. Second I believe there must be additional air flow at this location, try isolating the tube with a shield of some kind. Perhaps you can use a large straw or similar that will fit over the check valve and shield the end of the tube. You can also put the output from the check valve very close to the water, this will help prevent "hanging" drips as well as be in a high humidity area less likely to want to dry out.
Something is causing the last bit of solution in the tube to dry up, leaving you the crust.
thank you for the tips and follow up when most folks would have moved on. i really appreciate it and will give these ideas a go and report back to you results.
I had this issue with my Alk as well, I ran my ATO line over the end of the dose lines so they are washed off every hour ish with the top off water. Keeps them nice a clean no need to worry about them any more.
how much are you dosing per day of ALK?
Currently I am at 48ml a day spread out over 24 doses. I only have a 42L X 22W X 12H shallow tank (44gal)
Can’t wait to get my results from the lab so I can start my dosing of the 3 part! This thread is excellent
ok I have been on ATI Essentials for bout 5 weeks now, water was looking little yellow. I ran GAC for 4 days my ALK tested .5 DKH lower than normal, returned to normal post removal of GAC. anyone else experience this? Not knowing this was going to happen I adjusted my ALK up after the second day thinking the coral were using more ALK
Sounds like DOC reached a level that was reducing par. Now that the DOC is back down your corals are getting more light and calcifying faster, using more alk. If you dont want to use carbon 24/7 you can put the reactor on a timer off x minutes runs x minutes repeat. Will increase the lifespan of the gac without having to worry about the water in the reactor going stagnant.
Seems that if my coral was using less ALK because of less light penetration the value would go up instead of down
ATI recommend that you not use GAC more than 4 days in a row, and I was just wondering if my observation was correct, that the carbon caused the decrease in ALK
Sorry if I missed this before, is it ok to dose kalkwasser with Essentials, if someone is looking to keep pH up?
its been suggested that you not use Kalk
Is there a place other than Marine Depot to
purchase the 5 liter size? I want to give this a shot but they are out of stock on the 5 liter.
you mean 500mL or 1L?
500 ml. The one that makes 5 liters of solution.
Have you tried Premiumaquatics?
Here are 2 options, there may be others as well.
Thanks i placed an order at premium aquatics earlier in the day yesterday
I have 300gallon. After redesigning sump just for triton method and waiting to place order for Triton to find out it’s been out of stock on 10l for awhile it seems. seriously thinking about placing order for ATI essentials but my question is after redesigning my sump can I use tritons sump design w cheato the same way for the ATI essentials. If so I’m going with ati. Also need to place salt order which brand do they recommend to start with. I use IO currently.
