I had the pleasure of seeing this tank and set up today and it is simply amazing. My wife was drawn to the display like a kid in a candy store and I am the one in the hobby, LOL. Kudos Ross, awesome fish collection too.

I may have missed this in the 13 pages of content, but do you use RODI water?

A few updates today:

I added a 4th frag rack and made a spot so the Anemones wont kill my corals

I painted the Breeding system to match the other stands. I did not build this and the color was close, but now its perfect!

I also snapped a few pictures of the corals that @puffdragon got for me.....these are beautiful!!!

My skimmer is now out of the sump!

I had a mag 12 left over from taking down the breeding system. So I used it for the skimmer. I'm waiting on a apex ATO to arrive Friday and I will then add a skimmer bucket with sensor. The sensor will tell the pump to shutoff when the bucket is full. I also want to be alerted when the bucket is full so I know when to dispose of the sludge.

I think I read that you were going to tie a dehumidifier to drain into your sump? I am almost certain this water would have lower much than normal PH. In my experience, the water is actually kind of fouled since it collects more than moister in the air (and to me it even smells acidic but that could just be me). Would there be a way to filter it before sending it back into the sump? And maybe aerate it?

Before: I had my mixing Barrels here taking up precious space.

After: I swapped the Breeding system for the Mixing Barrels. I left one in the corner for my ATO. The breeding system was completely separate of the main system and was a huge pain. Now I am going to tie them all together and have the mixing station in my utility room.

Another reason for this, is that my PH is steady at 7.8-8.0. I would love to get it up to 8.0-8.3. Right now the utility/furnace room and my fish room are connected. I'm considering putting a door between them.

I cant see that a Gas water heater and Gas furnace are helping my PH at all.

I might even bring in a air exchange for the room.

I already have my skimmer hooked up to outside and I've tried to use a PH scrubber with little to no results.

My dehumidifier drains into my sump pump pit. Not the tank sump. Easily confused!

So I finally got the uv sterilizer hooked up. Its only a 57 watt but it was free (minus the new bulb and plumbing. I hooked it into the old line for the skimmer. It worked perfectly! I dont know if it will do anything but its worth a try!

I also purchased a new neptune ATO. I needed the module to setup the skimmer overflow bucket sensor. I've not mastered the art of apex programming so ill get back to that in the morning. For now the skimmer is producing skim mate again.

Big Updates today!

I can officially say I'm done building the tank! Its been 2 years exactly since I put the wood box on the stand and I dont know if there is anything else I want to do to the tank anytime soon. I hooked up the breeding system into the main pump and cleaned the whole room. I have to say Im very happy with everything!

To the good stuff....Pictures:

Very nice!
But can you explain the plugs (outlets) on the ends of the tank? How are those set up?

Really awesome stuff man. I’m a 2-3 weeks away from installing my 500 gal. This got me extra pumped about it.

Congrats! Keep me updated, I would love to follow along!

Cool stuff man. Your setup is fantastic!

Thanks you very much!

Tony

The sides of the tank are wrapped with 2x4 walls and the back with a 2x6 wall. So this left room to put the plugs for the powerheads in the walls and not have cords running everywhere. They are all ran on a separate GFCI incase they get wet. I thought i might pop the GFCI a lot but I'm still yet to get the plugs wet.

also what are you planning to breed? Or is that rack strictly for quarantine at the moment?

As of now my Clowns ive had for 9 years are breeding, So I might give them a try. I've got a buddy that has Bangai cardinals that breed also. In the future I would like to have a few breeding pairs that live full time in the system.

Because the system is now tied into the main tank, I cannot use this for a QT and medicate. I will use it as a holding place after fish go through QT and before they hit the big tank. I think this would let fish get use to the water before getting bullied in the big tank.

SPEAKING OF Quarantine Tank.....My new Queen Angel (small), Emperor angel, Powdered Blue Tang, and Copper Banded Butterfly
