Today I hosted the monthly INDMAS meeting. Around 15 people showed up and it was a great time for all! I Love to make new reefer friends!

It seemed like a great time to take some shots of the tank also! So here you go!

Thanks to @AdamH300 for helping me setup!

Sorry I haven't updated this in a while. I've kind of let things go the past 8 months. Summer happened and then I've had 2 Major projects of remodeling a home to sell and finishing a new office space for myself. I'm 99% done with my projects now though! The house sold this week and all I have to do on my new office is caulk and put a final coat of paint on the trim.

My trident has been offline for almost the entire 8 months. Due to this my alk dropped and killed a few corals. Nothing major, but enough that I'm kind of ticked at myself. I had a few fish die also. Last weekend I got everything back up and running and I'm not going to let that happen again!!!!!!

I installed the new Skimmer. One pump still isn't working, but I'm not sure If I care. It pulls out a lot more skimmate than the old one.

We also had the Cincy frag swap 2 weeks ago. Adam, Jake and I did pretty well I think. The INDMAS swap is just around the corner!

Not alot to update, but the Tank turned 3 recently!!!

We had the INDMAS frag swap 2 weeks ago. Adam, Jake and I set up and sold a few frags. We did not set up both swap tanks and regretted it pretty fast. Overall a good day. Will have alot better stuff next year!

I added a new skimmer a few weeks back. I'm not super happy with it as I have not been able to mod the cup to drain into a bucket. I have another used skimmer I got to try out. I may end up making the switch or even running 2 skimmers (one dry, one wet)

Today I also did a major cleaning in the tank. I had a few colonies that died out from the inside and a few of my SPS that have just never gotten great growth. So if the Acro hasn't done well, I moved it higher in the tank. I'm also adding two more powerheads as soon as UPS gets here today! Hopefully I'm going to see a lot of new growth soon!

Ill post a picture in the next few days as soon as the dust settles!

A few pictures to keep everyone happy!
I have a Cyno outbreak that I'm working on curing, so don't judge too hard.

The little guy was home with Covid last week, So he helped me clean out the fish room and install a new whole home dehumidifier, AKA one for the fish room! This thing is a beast, its rated for a 7000 sqft home and can pull out 130gal of moisture a day.

Hopefully I have some time this week to start fragging again. I have not sold corals out of the house for 6 months due to covid and being lazy. Since the tank is looking good again, im going to start selling. So if your in the Indy/Cincy area, hit me up!

Same as above? Does it throw a lot of heat into the room?

I think my model is one size down. It does put some heat into the room but not enough to make a difference on the aquarium temperature. Eventually I am going to duct the exhaust air into my finished part of the basement so I create a negative air pressure in my fish room.

Hi,

Does it throw a lot of heat into the room? What is the model #?

Thanks much
I got the

Aprilaire E130 Pro 130 Pint Dehumidifier for Crawl Spaces

it was 1800 on amazon (Its 2400 now!). It does throw a bit of heat in the room. This unit is made to connect into the cold air return on my HVAC unit. As of now I don't have it connected into the the Cold air, but I have a cold air return 12 inches from the outlet of this unit. So basically its sucking alot of the warm air into the house as of now.

Even though the room may be a little bit warmer (not really noticeable), I feel like the room is so much cooler due to the lack of humidity.

I installed the unit not only for my fish room, but for the whole home.

My home (built in 2018) has foamed walls and a blown in attic. This allows access moisture to escape through the attic, enough that I don't have to have a air exchange unit. The humidity on the main level is usually around 47%. The problem is in my basement, the air doenst have a good place to vent. Thus the Windows have always had moisture on them in the winter when the temp is below freezing. Im sure the fish tank doesnt help this either, and is more than likely the main cause.

I was running 2 dehumidifiers before, but my hope is that this will help the window issue and keep the fish room more comfortable.

Amazing, Reef update, Ross. Love your fish collection too. The dehumidifier addition so very nice! Hope your lil frag makes a speedy recovery. Covid thumbs down. Cheers!

Bad news this week. My Reeflo pump lost its seal and leaked water everywhere. I had known it was on its way out. I should have done preventative maintenance instead of waiting till it failed. Luckily I have extra seals as this has happened before.

The pump on my calcium reactor also went out. I think it was due to the lack of water movement when the main pump was off. So i have another one of those coming tomorrow.

I'm also installing another skimmer with the hope it out performs the others I have. I needed a few parts to get it working, So I added these on the BRS order with the calcium reactor pump!

Hopefully ill be back up and running 100% Friday!!!

Long needed update: My last post was during Meltdown 2022! My Calcium reactor pump started leaking and my main pump started leaking. I came home to water everywhere and my salinity had tanked due to the ATO. Luckily im a big fan of Reeflo customer service. They shipped me out a new Hammerhead and im in the process of sending my old one back to get rebuilt for a backup. I got 3.6 years out of that pump, i had hoped for 5 but for something that runs 24/6/365. I don't think that's horrible.

Since May My tank has never looked better. Its been on Autopilot all summer and its the first summer that ive not had a setback due to lack of interest. Most summers I'm outside or away and the tank suffers. I have had great growth on all my SPS, even the few high dollar ones that set stagnant for the past year are starting to grow.

Here are a few pictures! I still have plans to add some more fish this fall, but I can wait for a bit.
