love the dedication ..ready ...set..baby quins..
Read somewhere where they were successful in a larger volume of water 220 gal I believe. Read somewhere else that someone made it to day 15 using water circulated from the ocean. Someone did bring them to settlement in Ohio which is not close to the ocean so that might not be a requirement. This tank has been setting around with sump it will give me 165 gallons of volume

What I have so far of the diy Kreisel tank. Will be able to see through both ends when the protective film is removed. Thinking about a spray bar attached to an airline/pump with a small micron mesh to break the bubbles if I do go with an airline. Still need to cut a hole in the side and attach a small micron mesh to allow flow

I would skip the hob filter as I would think that it would suck up everything (including shrimp). An air pump and frequent water changes may be better way to go. I could be wrong, but the filter may become counterintuitive.

Thank you I can use all the help I can get. The Kreisel tank inside the tank is raised above the water level and has a mesh screen on the side to allow for water passage but keep the shrimp inside brine and harlequin and possibly even rotifers since it is 25 micron

Starting to wonder if I should use a larger micron mesh on the Kreisel? It is 25 micron. But wondering if I should increase the size to allow the passage of brine and rotifers? Wondering if preventing their passage will degrade the water quality inside the Kreisel even though there is water flow? If anything it would make getting the expired ones out of the Kreisel more difficult

What I have so far. Transferred some sand which I put in a container with many pin sized holes to allow flow and a bio cube and some matrix from my display. Also transferred three med size snails to keep the bacterial population up before I flood the tank with phytoplankton and zooplankton. Might put in a few of my mangroves and macro with a small light on the opposite side of the Kreisel. Hopefully all of this plastic in a small volume of water won’t have any detrimental effect? Really wanted to keep the top to cut down on evaporation but the plumbing options I had available has made it a challenge

food for thought ,put side by side in tank first ,to see if accurate match, then move one ;)
