I found this guy strolling fast on my sand bed. It looked candy cane stripped at first. Took it out when I realized it was a snail. It is the size of a grain of rice. It looks like it has a siphon. Is it a baby nassarius snail? I do have two nassarius snails. I know that whelks look very similar. Or maybe it is a totally different kind of snail. Just didn't know if anyone could tell being this small. If it's a baby nassarius snail I don't want to get rid of it.

Too bad, he's a cute little guy. You could take a chance with him. Perhaps not all Marginella demonstrate this behavior. I've never seen this particular variety before. If your other snails are significantly larger, you should be ok.

Yes I googled it and found very similar pics to Marginella. Specifically this species Volvarina taeniolata, banded California marginella. He is super cute lol. But not sure I will keep. Thanks for your help !! This website it so helpful :) I would have been looking for days for an ID lol

The porcelan like shell is a giveaway, These guys are not harmful but lazy in the aspect of a cleaner crew and prefers to eat leftover food
