I have a few questions regarding the use of all for reef when the tank demands more alkalinity than calcium and magnesium. I dose based on alkalinity and my mag and calcium do raise higher.

Most would consider to dose less all for reef and add more alk, with a separate dosing unit. I just don’t wish to add another unit to compensate especially if I could theoretically balance with a different method.

I’m theorizing changing salt to tm classic to compensate for this imbalance occurring so that my water change will balance my skewed levels without changing anything else.

My levels: Alk 6.6 Calcium 469 magnesium 1422

By switching salts from pro reef to classic it would raise alk levels and lower calcium and magnesium with each water change. Then the AFR dosing would raise my calcium and magnesium back up while maintaining alk.

Has anyone ever tried this, use this method or anyone has any incites with this imbalance.

The only thing I would have to do differently is change salts from pro reef to classic to help remedy this.
