I had some rocks fall yesterday and I believe this bangaii cardinal got hit in the head (I have a hand tremor and sometimes accidents happen when I'm working in the tank). Seems like I can actually see bone in the wound.

He's not exactly hiding and seemed to eat today, but looks to be breathing pretty heavily. What can I do to help him?

Oh, that’s a shame, seems pretty deep. There isn’t anything you can do to repair the damage itself. The only thing you can do is try to prevent secondary bacterial infection. To do that, you would need to move the fish to a hospital tank and dose with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic such as neoplex, furan-2 or Maracyn 2.
