I am looking for examples of diy barn wood Stands. Im starting a new build and I have access to an old barn that I can reclaim and refinish as much wood as I’d like. my plan is to have the sides and from finished with barn wood and the back open for tank and sump maintenance. I’d planning on having a sliding door for an opening for my 30 gallon cube display refugium. the Remainder of the from would be fully skinned with no other doors. The tank will be a 240 gallon 72" long 30" front to back and 24" water depth.

Is the tank going to be off the wall? cause having the tank stand back open for maintenance wont be beneficial if its up against the wall.

Not quite barn wood, as the wife had other things she wanted to do with all that I had.

Pallet wood is the same principle though, in regards to reclaimed wood pieces.

The big tank has the wood screwed to thin plywood panels and is held to the steel stand by magnets.

The smaller tank has doors where the wood is screwed to thin plywood panels.

I believe you’re fairly close to me. If that barn is in decent range of 18661, I’d be interested in some of that wood. Please let me know if the option is there. Thanks!

WOW! That is awesome! Geez.... I just passed some pallets on the curb that someone is giving away. I'm going to have to go back and get them. Do you have supports on the inside?

Yup. Typically wood frame and skinned with pallet wood over plywood. The large tank is a steel stand with the pallet wood on plywood and attaches with magnets. There are 3 panels on the big tank. Makes maintenance super easy lol.

Do you mind sharing some pics with the panels removed? I'm having a hard time seeing the seams in the photo and love that the front looks like one big piece without doors.

I can when I get home. The center pieces at the top and bottom hide the seams on the front. Front is 2 panels and a single piece that the center pieces slip into. Left side is another panel all by itself.

That's brilliant! I like the idea of dressing up a steel stand this way. I too would like to see more pics (and of the inside) when you get a chance. This is really awesome!
