We started end of may with the build.
the little lady insisted on a new floor, seeing that we would have to move two tanks. It was challenging at times.
I inserted cured pic.
So we used Kraft maid special order cherry cabinets from Home Depot. She screwed them together for an extremely strong base.
Tank is from glass cages 56x24x24.
My first tank was from them and was nice. This new one I think Ray Charles did the silicone job.
The original builder screwed up the joist level slightly,so we repaired the floor. Notching and shimming 5 joists and pulled them down with a come along. Good times.
Looks Like a greAt build. Floors came out great. i don’t think I saw what we are putting in the tank or what equipment you are going with. Also how bout pics of the other tanks. Lots to see. Also #WelcimetoR2R .
Stop by the meet and greet forum to say hi and for us to say hi if you would like
Usually when I do a project with 2x4’s I like to square them up nice and make em smaller to avoid a clunky look.
we used reclaimed 5/4 cedar decking for the bench top.
I did all of the piping in white pvc first for layout ideas. I had to redo a bunch of times.
So I decided not to do the frag tank setup and installed a 30 bio cube to match the sump. Its plumbed through the supply and cycles through main compartment in sump. I also run the reactor fire through here to bleed off c02. It works nicely.
Lol keep Working on her!!!
Anyway I originally had the pump next to the sump but had noise and vibration issues so I moved it to the rear and unfortunately had to bury the 1” feed. Oh well. Next we have the 1-1/2 green pipe for fresh air.
the skimmer also pulls outside air.
I welded up the bracket at the shop and put some nice 3/8 anchors deep in.
I sandwiched the pump with 6x6 sheet 1/8 aluminum with 3/4 neoprene.
I used the black flexi pipe from my bud Glenn to hook up.
The pump is super quiet now.
Nice alky side shot
My favorite part of the build, the canopy!
We used “Press to fit framing” from Mcmaster Carr. I cut with my chop saw to precision dimensions, then press the corresponding angles together.
we used 1-1/2 stainless screws for cabinet face fastening.
We put blocking on for the crown moldings. Also screwed the egg crate on for jumpers
Yeah man we went with aquatic t-5 hybrid with four new 360x tunas
All 5 doors openwide np
I fabbed the nice linear bearing brackets for easy height adjustment. Super handy for maintenance!
Calcium reactor was fun.
I built a 1” unistrut shelf and anchored.
With the aquarium plants c02 solenoid and masterflex pump it’s super stable and reliable.
I run the fire all the way over to chaeto reactor. I do this mainly to degas the c02 then it flows to main sump up to display.
Decided to build my own dang wall to separate and build a quasi fish room.
my friend Tom came over and knocked it out. I put h/c copper lines in for future Sink and drain Keep your pex
