Looking for a sump for the new 225 build and I have been looking at the bashsea signature series but can not find any reviews on them. Anyone have any dealing with these sumps or could recommend a good sump.

Funny this thread came up. I just put down money on my new 225 gal tank and I also purchased a Bashea Signature Series SS-48 sump. They are on sale now at Premium Aquatics, 15% off. Everyone I talked to say these are some of the best built sumps out there.

I love my ss48, I did remove the divider in the return chamber with a zip saw because I’m running dual COR20’s for returns. You can not fit dual returns there without doing so. I’m using it on an 210 gal. The build quality is amazing, Sump itself weighs 50 + pounds

Great idea about removing the divider. I wanted to run dual COR 20's also, now you just gave the tools to do it. :)

This is good to know, crazy theres no reviews on these sumps. Seems the 48 inch will work for the 225 but I would feel safer with more room lol

Its all a matter of what you plan on running in your sump. I don't plan on running a refugium, I will use a algae reactor instead. I plan on putting in the sump a Reef Octopus 200-sss skimmer and a few Sicce pumps for the reactor and scrubber. In the 2nd chamber I plan on adding 60 or so pounds of live rock.

Folks,

I'm looking to move my sump into my fish room into the basement. I will need to use an external pump, as I'm not aware of any internal ones that will work with the potential head-space loss I will incur. I like the features of the Bashsea alot. My only concern - Is it easy to drill a 3/4" or 1" bulkhead into the sump for the return? Or, anyone have any advice on a return pump with greater than 20' of head loss?

Thanks!

Abyzz A200 Controllable DC Pump will get that job done for ya with ez. Far as drilling into the sump to put bulk heads in is easy peasy.

lol, Your best bet would be to look into a reeflo pump, They are a solid pump and priced fair. Look at the manta ray or the tiger shark, They have max head pressure of 55ft.

I'm planning a basement fish room as well. I'm estimating around 20' head loss as well. My current plan is it run the Pan World 200ps with 1.5" PVC. Then split into 2x .75" returns. Reviews for the reeflo pumps had a lot of negative things about the seals breaking down.
