If you work full time like most of us sofites are best. There a ton of different kinds and they're forgiving when you have 60+ hr. work weeks and no days off.

This is very tough. Friends and family seem to like lps better. I love lps but something about sps draws me in. The colors, the challenge of keeping, and satisfaction of seeing frags grow into colonies. I am an sos junkie personally but love lps. It a softie fan at all

I love the Lps the most. I love the movement and the fact that they are more forgiving than sps. They come in amazing colors and types as well! They are fun to feed too

I prefer SPS (especially Acropora) if I was to pick only one, but honestly, I love all 3. I try to make my reefs look natural, and also be as biodiverse as possible. Reefs in the wild are teeming with life. I haven't had a single coral I didn't enjoy keeping. Acro colonies make one instantly picture a natural reef, especially the larger tabling and staghorn colonies, but gorgonians, euphyllia, and goniopora give movement, even xenia and Zoanthids help fill things in. Plating Montipora colonies also look amazing as they get larger.

Arm yourselves for battle my R2R brothers and sisters FOR TODAY WE FIGHT! Choose your side and defend it well! Today we're going to talk about the three most popular types of coral and I will ask you to choose a side and defend why your favorite type is the best type of coral! This is a battle but it's a friendly skirmish so keep a smile on your face and let's see who WINS! Oh and YOU MUST CHOOSE ONE! If not you will be considered a nuisance algae loving, aiptasia growing, tank full of pests, deserter! :p

1. Of SPS, LPS and Soft Coral which coral is the best coral to keep?

2. Why is your coral of choice the best coral to keep? Defend it!

I love a tank with all 3 but if I had to chose one I would pick the LPS for variety, color and maintenance. I am currently struggling w SPS so ask me this same question a year from now and my answer may change.

I love all three types of coral and appreciate most a mixed reef. I voted for SPS because I think supporting a healthy, growing SPS colony is the most difficult and is indicative of a very high level of husbandry.

I have mostly lps but I have some zoas and mushrooms only three sps. I love the challenge of keeping a mixed reef and I think the combination is beautiful

I went with LPS but sincerely love my tank which daily is going softy/LPS with a smattering of monti caps and birds nest. I really really love my LPS tank though.

I love mushrooms, leathers, xenia, and anthelia. The movement on soft corals is unparalleled. Duncans, euphyllia, acans, and blastos are a close second

I love LPS. Acans are at the top of my list. I also love my hammer and duncan. I could fill the whole tank with LPS.
