My tank is 4 years old and recently acquired a Dino outbreak this month. My Haddoni carpet walked across from one end of the tank to the other end causing a spike in nutrients.

As a result phosphate and nitrate levels increased. I normally am skimmerless and just rely on weekly water changes which includes siphoning the sand bed a portion at a time. I do let macroalgae grow in tank to pick up excess nutrients.

Just prior to this my magnifica anemone was on the back wall and was not getting enough light. I added additional lights and started target feeding to nurse it back to health. To prevent excess nutrients from creeping higher, I ran the HOB protein skimmer wet with floss filter pad. Also had carbon and seachem phosguard on schedule. Well nutrients bottomed out to zero.

One other major change over the course of 3 weeks I started doing regular WC and siphoning out the sand. This is because of the nutrient spike from the sand bed getting disturbed by the Haddoni carpet. I don’t want to go back to having a sand bed anymore.

I don’t have a microscope. So far I have removed the skimmer and all nutrient exports except for weekly WC. I tried week now at temperatures of 28.5c in hopes to kill off the dinos with no luck. I heard this from @OrionN

looking for suggestions on next course of action.

Picture below doesn’t show the ugly. I will try to take that picture shortly.

help?

ok. so you definitely have dinos that look like the type UV will be somewhat effective against.
Your dinos are also growing on random macroalgae coming from the rocks. So one the dinos are knocked back to invisible, you may want to upgrade your herbivore crew.

Thank you. I will pick up a UV and give that try. I wish I could add a tang but think it would be cruel in such a small space.

I should note that by the end of the day the bubbles were everywhere.

A small bristletooth tang might be appropriate depending on what size the tank is...

Would it be okay with all the carpet anemones though? It's pretty much a death trap as it's wall to wall with anemones.
