Finally tested phosphate levels, seems pretty good to me, need to get a nitrate test still. Not sure if I’ll get the Hanna checker for it or not

Working through my ugly stage right now, skimmer+fuge combo is working too well and stripping too many nutrients so working on decreasing fuge light time. I’ve got an order from reef cleaners coming next week, and some stuff from aquasd coming Thursday that’ll likely live in my nano until this tank is ready for them.

I have an order coming from them this week, or at least i hope so. Who knows with USPS. Looking good.

Nitrates are about ~20, not too bad. I’ll bump up my fuge light timer a little bit but I’m not targeting too much lower than that. I also haven’t done any water changes yet, but probably will do 10-15 gallons this weekend

Been dealing with dinos the last 6-8 weeks or so. I attribute it to just being part of new tank syndrome with dry rock. I dosed microbacter7 for 3 weeks along with some phyto. 3 weeks ago i added a small 10w UV into the back chamber near the main drain. It's mostly cleared up now, just need to siphon a bit off the sand.

Getting some GHA growth so i'll probably get a couple more emerald crabs to help knock that down.

Nutrient levels are still in a good range, so i haven't done a water change yet. I just got alkalinity and calcium test kits so i'll start testing those and keep an eye on when i'll need to start doing water changes or dosing.

I picked up a tiny leopard wrasse a couple weeks ago, it's eating great and is very active.

.05 phosphate
10 nitrate
7.1 dkh

Looks like I need to figure out how to bump up my alkalinity since that seems a bit low, and testing calcium tomorrow. Maybe kalkwasser?

Dealing with some cyano right now, not a huge deal but annoying nonetheless. nitrates undetectable, .05 phosphate. Might look into getting a gfo reactor to run sometimes to get that down. Trying to figure out how i can run lines for an AWC system or just some way to pump water up/down from the basement so i don't have to carry buckets anymore.

Maintenance:
  • 20g water change last night
  • replaced carbon

Hello,

I’m considering this tank and was wondering if there was anything you would change if doing it all over again? Also, how is the noise level for having it in a living room close to a TV? If you have time, could you post a current picture of your sump setup?

Thank you
