This 4 inch fan from Amazon cost me $10.99 and cools like a beast on top of my Red Sea 170 (40 gal).

How do you have it mounted?

I’m wondering if this over the sump would do the trick:

I have it connected to my Hydros. It turns on when it hits the upper temp limit and cools pretty quickly. Turns on about 4 times a day. I don't use a heater.
Unfortunately I don't have Hydros or Apex. I think the next best device I found is the inkbird ITC-308S. I'll probably unplug the heater once the heat wave comes.

I turn my fans on and off on the MH timer. If you don't have something more sophisticated, a cheap wall timer is fine since you know about what time stuff starts to heat up and cool down.

I have it mounted tihgtly with velcro tape on my Nicrew 150 light bracket. It aims down toward the water and cools very well unless temps reach 77F or above in the house.

Just remembered one detail about these fans.

Make sure you get one with a switch control and not a button control if you're going to be using it on a controller or timed outlet. The fans with button control need a button press after being powered on to actually run. The fan I have has a switch so it runs when powered. It has 2 different speeds as well.
