Welcome to the BEST FISH AWARDS 2021! Ok not really but I thought it would be fun for us to each to give an award to the fish that we believe to be the most deserving in the following categories! These may be fish you have owned, want to own or can only dream to own. Nevertheless who does your awards go to? Let's talk about it!

dont pick a fish because of its supposed attributes, get one because it is one you like and you can take care of it and you are able to manage it if it goes rogue. imo my fave beauty fish is acropora filefish. my fave fish behavior is anything in tetradoniformes, (puffers, boxfish, trunkfish, triggers, diodon puffers, filefish) they are all very personable. my fave worker is lawnmower blenny because it eats lots of algaes. imo hardiest fish would prolly be like a big shark or grouper best all around imo is probably like a scorpaeniforme because theres ones for everybody and some are very pretty and some are good micropredators and some are personable and all of them are very hardy

I feel the most important thing in choosing a fish is insuring that they are alive. Was going to buy a few once from a fella getting rid of them cheap. He didn't mention that they were all dead. Needless to say, I didn't buy them. Sad for the fish but makes for an interesting story.

Edit: Clown fish would be my vote buy the way. Great all around fish.

I’ll jump straight to the best fish ever…

BEST ALL AROUND: Sapphire Blue Damsels - can have more than one.. eats pests, pretty coloration, works non-stop, super hardy and cheap! Just need them captive bred now!

I usually choose a fish based on behavior. However, it all depends on what role I need filled in an aquarium.
Of the reef fish I’ve kept, I’d say:

Best behavior (not well-behaved, though):

I can only speak to what I have had experience with but...

Best behavior, honestly my Sailfin Tang or firefish.

Most beautiful would have to go to A Copperband butterfly or mandarin I had that didn't die but was given away because parents drained my tank..., however anthias are very colorful but never had any.

The most hardy fish I've had are Clownfish, Damsels, and firefish.

The most hard working fish I've had would be a wrasse. But he had a bad temper, gave him away.

Best all around fish for me are tangs. But they are prone to ich and flukes and such.

I am confused why people keep putting clown fish as the fish with the best behavior. I had an ocellaris that would bite me every time I put my hand in the tank!

Here are my votes!

If had award for most annoying fish.it must have to go to a blue streaked cleaner wrasse as constantly harrassing most fish trying to clean them and often they chase it away

I voted for "Other" - will it still fit in the aquarium when it grows up?
Some of the fish I've seen are just beautiful when they are immature and transitioning...and then they get big. I mean really big. So I always try to plan well in advance and research what size they will end up as an adult to make sure I can support them comfortably throughout their life.
Cheers,
Ray:cool:
