What is the best way to aim a Gyre-style wave maker? I have an Ice Cap Gyre 2k in a 40 gallon breeder on the right side. I'm using the "LPS Reef" pattern on a Hydros Wave Engine.

The flow goes in a circular pattern, but I feel like I get a lot of detritus buildup on my rocks and sand. Is this the best placement and flow pattern?

Should the gyre be placed in a different position to help keep my rocks and sand a little cleaner?

Would a second power head help? I was thinking about something like a Reef Octo Pulse 2 potentially, but not sure how necessary that is.

I'd place it a bit higher up for more surface agitation and so you aren't blasting the rocks (and corals you place there) directly, otherwise looks good. Another one shouldn't be necessary, but if you feel like you need more, add another one on the opposite side, slightly offset in height and side to side to create some random interference. I'd set it on random flow mode, if you have that option. I run 2x gyres in my frag tank on random flow and everything thrives.
