I have it up high and on the sand. The one on the sand gets all colors, whereas up high I mostly get red. Prob 450 par up top and 250 on the sand.
Thanks! That's helpful!

This is a unique acro, it grows so fast and is so hardy but it can grow anywhere in the tank. On top of that, it will look completely different depending on light. I have two colonies from one frag and you would never know they are the same coral. My colony up high is basically a light purple with deep lavender near the base. My middle frag has green, yellow and very deep maroon. Can't figure out which one I like better!

Thanks! I've been keeping mine up high and was wondering why it looked so red.

This one will also benefit from a wide spectrum of light.

I have not had it in a while, but it was dark red with all of the other colors too, but it was high light under Metal Halide. The same frag in a tank with just Kessils was dull and lost most of the red.

There is a wide range of outcomes with this one.... and then there are the knockoffs that people can never get to color up because they are not real. If you have one that just won't ever do anything, then it might not be you... it might just not be the same coral.

I'm running radion G3s with a T5 hybrid (ATI Blue+ and Actinic bulbs). Based on the feedback here, I'm planning to put it mid tank.

One photo is 450 PAR. The second is 250 PAR. The choice is yours.

Mine is about 400 par, it is red, purple tips, some hints of yellow, orange with a touch of green on the base. Very pretty coral. For the $40 cost it is the best deal around

mine was glorious! As was another Rainbow acro colony (non-pc). Both were mid-height placement.

When i upgraded some lights, both browned out. After months of trial and error, i placed the just above the sand bed. They are now nicely red, growing like mad, with some mixed rainbow coloring.

I could have used this thread like 18 months ago! :)

I've got mine mid tank, about 6" under the water surface, with my AI hydra 26 at 14" above the water line. I've had it for 4 months, and its only now just showing a new nub from some of its newly grown encrusting portion on my rockwork.

Its been green all over the entire time I've had it so far, in fact, it became even greener now that I look at my initial photos of it. I'd really like to get some red coloration in it already.

I just picked up a frag from a local reefer, pc rainbow left.

He said lower light for the rainbow effect, thats what I need the high light spots are taken.

Its in rough shape I scraped it and was rough on it during the dip, but it was looking good in his tank. Thats a j.f b33 on the right, rough on that one too but they are clean.
