Thanks for the reply. Contacted the Etsy seller, no more discounts as they only have a couple left. I guess I better make my mind up very very soon

I would tread very carefully.

I dislike the way the stand looks as well but what will look even worse is chipped paint. Unless she likes shabby chic look.

I doubt paining water proof laminate to last is an easy task.

Yea, I showed her customers actual pictures and the stand looks a bit different than the image the seller is using. She likes the way it looks from the reviews. The sellers image makes it look like a distressed shiplap/ pallet look or something.

it's definitely different compared to your standard white and black stands. I wasn't a huge fan of the look at first but it has grown on me and I like the uniqueness of the stand. but it shouldn't be too hard to paint it but you'll have to sand it a little first with like 150 grit because the paint won't stick too well to the slick surface. Then I would use a shellac primer, then paint. definitely doable but will require a little bit of work. I think about painting mine sometimes too.

My build with this tank is coming along. I just finished modifying the sump for a half-macro/half-cryptic refugium:
- blacked out the side glass of the refugium chamber to prevent algae growth in the filtration/return chambers
- Cut a black polycarbonate "lid" to go over the cryptic zone
- Sanded down the lip of the filter chamber cover to sit on top of the cryptic zone lid
- Added a 4" tall glass weir wall to allow an area for sand/mud substrate

I also picked up a 1/2" thick 48"x20" sheet of acrylic to use between the tank and the stand. I'm doubtful it'll do anything but might alleviate my hanging-front-glass-superstition.

T slots just arrived. Have some for mounting lights on the back and some for adding rigidity to the plywood top of the tank. Should start installing in another two weeks (traveling for Tgiving and work).

I bought one today, they have 3 left. Good communication from the seller. Should be shipping this week
I saw your tank at the warehouse when picking up mine. Yours looked almost ready to ship. Looks like you got the pump too.

Love this. Glad you are moving along. I’ve got travel coming up as well, but am gathering materials for this thing to be wet in the new year. Can’t wait.

Y’all are giving me inspiration.

Yeah I bought 2 pumps, like to have back ups
Oh ok, for sure it’s your order that I saw then. I was wondering why there were 2 pumps sitting inside your tank. I don’t think I saw the strainer in your over flow box though. Not sure if you asked for it. It’s only for forum members.

They seemed to have changed the strainer. It looks completely different. He said it was to prevent swirling.

Ok, I’m really bummed about not being able to use standard filter socks because I have at least 20-30 unused 4” socks (came with my 60” cube that I bought from my cousin). I know at some people have switched to the Redsea filter cups, but has anyone considered the redsea nano filter roller that fits in the 4” holders?
