I wanna dip my Zoa rock in sw and h202 mix... What ratio is best to start with? I'm thinking 3 :1 sw to h202...

That won't kill zoa right? For like 20 min dipping time?
I have done 1:1 zoa dipping for 10 mins without issues. I only dip zoas in h2o2 if the frag comes in with algae.. if it's for other pest I would still use regular coral dips.

I routinely use 3% H2O2 dips for my zoas. I don't use any sw or rodi, just the h2o2 for 2-3 mins. Never had any issues with the zoas but the rock cleans right up

standard 3%. This is what I do... I turn off all the pumps get a syringe and fill it up with h2o2, and squirted to area slowly until you see bubbles coming off the area. Let the h2o2 fizzle that area until it stops and you can turn the pumps back on. This will also take care of bubble algae. Sometimes it will take 2-3 doses, just come back next day and do it again. I know some ppl have said that there's a limit of how many ml you can use per gallon... but h2o2 dissolves fairly quick, and it doesn't take too much h2o2 to get a small area to fizzle, just don't go crazy.. I usually do small amounts no more than 15ml -30ml per treatment.
I am attempting this now.
Do I need to inject the h2o2 into the sponge or just spray the sponge with it?
Definitely getting bubbles - day 2 of dosing.

Ok guys...Name that sponge and WHAT WILL EAT IT. I've scraped it off a number of live rocks including rinsing with RO water and it continues to come back within days/weeks. It's not attractive and would love to have it gone!

I have this too and it’s just growing over my zoas. Other than what most people think I just heard from a reefer and saw an article saying some sponges can be toxic. Have you gotten rid of it or figured out if there’s any fish that eats it?

Did it work? Also can we not use the regular peroxide? I have this type of sponge and it’s growing everywhere but only on this one rock

Not a problem for me,, I love sponges.
Was pointing out a source for 35% h2o2.

What I basically took away from this article.......

If your into growing, fragging, and selling corals, you probably don't want any sponge around. If you want a full healthy ecosystem and aren't worried too much about getting maxiumum growth so yuo can frag and sell that 1/4" nub, most sponges are a good thing.

Why is everything geared to chopping up and selling corals these days? Can't we just have an ecosystem and enjoy it? Some of us grow corals for enjoyment, not for monetary value.

Wrong, nobody even mentioned fragging or selling corals and who isnt here to grow corals?

And wrong again, if youre growing, fragging, sellling corals you probably do want sponge around it, just not this sponge.

It grows like a clove polyp and faster than xenia but 10x as fast. little blob arms that get stuck like a sticky hand onto a new rock. Its invasive and killed a few of my old large corals that i DIDNT frag and grew from a tiny frag over years.

The fact is i should have fragged them in case something like this happened.

To sum this up

Interesting read on why sponges are not the best thing to have in a reef tank where corals are the main focus.

I disagree with Jake on this.
Tyree has a sps tanks that are mainly kept with sponges and tunicates. They are part of the biodiversity.
Yea some sponges are invasive but most are not and most are quite beautiful. Most sponges also compete with some of the stuff we do not want in a reef.
