About 6 weeks ago, I got a bi-color angel. At the time, it had one cloudy popeye. I put him in QT and treated with a full course of Erythromycin. The eye cleared up but it was still popped. He made it through 30 days of CP, 2 dosages of API GC, 2 doses of epsom salt, 3 doses of kanaplex, but the eye remains popped.

If I look really close, I think I see a spot which may have been a sign of trauma. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. He eats pellets, nori, krill, etc. I'm starting to think that maybe I should put him in the DT and hopefully a more natural environment will help him heal.

Whatever it is, I don't feel it is contagious because from what I have read, any illness usually results in both eyes being popped.

Do you have a picture? How long did you treat the erythromycin for and how far apart were the doses of GC?

Too hard to get a picture, he's fast. I did 4 doses of euthromycin. The GC was about 5 or 6 days apart

We will need photos. Perhaps it's a permanent injury --- but it sounds a lot like inflammation..

Thank God for burst mode. His eye is perfectly clear.

Looks like a gas bubble over the eye. Does the water temperature in your QT fluctuate a lot? Perhaps when you do water changes?

Nope, to be honest I've only done two 10 gallon WC since he's been in there.

Is this something I can cure or will it work itself out over time.

Is there any harm in putting him in the DT where the water and conditions are likely better

Being this is more of a condition than an actual disease, I would move him on over.

Agree as long as it was treated prophylactically and correctly this is probably backyard a good move

I moved him over yesterday morning and he is doing well. Ate last night with the rest of the fish. It's much more enjoyable watching him swimming through the rocks pecking away than swimming through Pvc pipe
