Hello all,
My friends call me Big Andy and I'm proud to be joining this community.
Prior experience was with a BioCube that I modified to suit my needs, but had to get rid of about 10 years ago,. Now is the perfect time for me to get back into the hobby.

This is the start of my Build Thread could I please get a review on my initial component list? Looking to do a mixed reef build.
  • Display Tank: Waterbox 130.5 & Stand
  • Sump: Trigger Platinum 26 (Since I'll be feeding my RO/DI from my basement, I don't need the ATO in the stock sump)
  • Skimmer: Nyos 160 (should this be a 120, since the sump has a fleece roll?)
  • Return Pump: Neptune Cor-20
  • Powerheads: 2 AI Nero 5's, Neptune WSK WAV Starter Kit
  • Lights: 3 XR15 Pros (I'm uncertain on what I need here)
  • Controllers: Inkbird 306A, Apex Controller System with Extra Energy Bar 832
  • Heaters: 2 Cobalt Aquatics Nero-therms 200W
  • Aquascape: 20lbs Shelf Rock, 30lbs Foundation, and 100lbs Reef Saver
  • Sand: 60lbs Fiji Pink
  • Dose: Neptune DOS & DDR Dosing System Package
  • Fuge Light: Tunze 8811 EcoChic Marine LED
  • Water Analyzer: Neptune Trident
  • Plumbing: Custom with a manifold for reactor expansion

I'm building a mixing station with two Ace Roto-Mold 55 gallon containers, and will be using if for ATO and Automatic water changes, parts list in progress.
Most likely another Neptune DOS and ATK V2 Auto Top Off Kit, and another Neptune Cor-20 to move water between the tanks and mixing. thinking a Cor-20 as that can be used to replace the main tank pump if there's a failure.

Looking forward to hearing thoughts and feedback.

Be Kind,
Big Andy

Welcome! Equipment list looks great! Nyos 120 is limited at 120g which is near your volume. I'd suggest going with the 160 so you have more room to adjust.

Thank you for the feedback and addressing one of my concerns, is there a rule of thumb that it's ok to oversize, but don't undersize?

Technically it's OK to undersize moreso than oversize (I've read in my research that if your skimmer is too big it just won't work at all.)

Nyos 160 in my opinion is a perfect size for your tank. I've got the 120 and my total volume is only ~25g (after accounting for rock.) I'm just at the point of oversized for my tank. It's Waterbox recommended though.
