So I am in the process of starting a new tank. Been in the hobby for about 10 years. Currently in the Army, and sold everything when we came to Fort Hood, long story short, we were supposed to go to Hawaii and I was going to use that time off to actually see the ocean. Fast Forward two years of being without a tank, and I am starting another one. Keeping it small because I hated moving with a big tank, and we’re going to be moving a lot in the next 5 years. It’s also just easier for the wife if I am not here taking care of a smaller tank as well. Because the tank is small I want to keep it sleek so it will be drilled on the back center with a return on both sides. Going to try the SCWD to alternate flow between the sides so that I won’t need any power heads.

My wife has a Planted Tank, and I really like the quality of stand and tank so I went with the UNS 90L stand in piano white and the tank. Specifications:
+ 45° Mitered Edges
+ 91% Clarity with Diamant Glass
+ High Quality German Silicon
+ Laser Etched Logo

Dimensions:
Length: 35.43"
Width: 11.81"
Height: 11.81"
Volume: 21 gallons

I ordered the tank and because of Covid still haven’t gotten it yet. We have the stand already. When the stand arrived it threw a wrench in the build because of the center brace, so I had to get a custom sump. Did a lot of research and ended up going with @modularmarine because I went with his overflow, and also had him make an ATO container that was super narrow for behind the stand.

Equipment will be:
Apex for the controller/monitor
NYOS 120 for the skimmer
COR 15 for the return pump
ATK for the ATO
BRS Titanium heater
For the lighting 3 of the OR3 bars: Blue Plus, Reef Day, and UV
Marcos rock - Bought way to much because we broke it all up to make a NSA like on the BRS video. Glueing complete still need to mortar it!

Pictures to Follow!

Four holes drilled, took forever, second hole with the same bit always takes forever! Glad that’s done, wouldn’t want to wait on another tank!!!
OR bars look really good in my opinion, just need to plumb it all now and get it wet!

Well it’s all plumbed and wet!!!!
Going to clean up and then add the Fritz-Zyme Turbo Start and nitrocycle.
the SQWD Wavemaker seems to be working, it makes a clicking noise when the current switches, currently have the COR set at 57% so we will see how that works!
Need to invest in a gel filter.

Thanks brother. I appreciate it. Sorry for the late response. To be honest I hadn’t really though about it too much. Currently the only thing in the tank is a pair of Clownfish. One Premium Black Snowflake and one regular Black Snowflake. Currently in the sump is my daughters Orchid Dottyback. He’s an A$$hole, go figure. I have been thinking about the stock list and this is what I want as of now:
A Shrimp and Goby combo, don’t know which one, don‘t necessarily care, just want to see and experience the relationship.
Helfrichi Firefish
A small Benny, probably a bicolor or Tail Spot.
A small single baby Anthias that I can trade in a year when it gets too big, and that will probably do it on fish.
Update to follow...

Ok so here is the Christmas Eve update for 2020. Pictures will be attached.

The PH in my tank is abysmal, almost impossible to get to even 8.1. I bought a CO2 Scrubber to help because it was constantly hovering at 7.5-7.6. With that, and KALK in the ATO the PH stays between 7.79 at the low and sometimes will get to 8.1 usually around 8.05 is the highest I can get, even with the CO2 Scrubber mod into the lid of the Skimmer. 4 people in the house, 2 dogs, and a Cat. We will be selling the house and moving to Fort Bliss this summer so not drilling a hole outside, low PH will have to work for the next 5ish months.

I added some cheap SPS to ensure I could keep them, and they’re doing well so i went all in. Doing 5 or 10 gallon water changes weekly and dosing All For Reef to keep my ALK stable and all parameters are constant and good! My wife’s cat is completely consumed by the fish in the sump.
My wife got me two sticks for Christmas this year, the Jason Fox Bug Out Sylo and WWC Yellow Tips. Honestly I was surprised at the size of Frag too, both were put in the tank yesterday and look great!

Sorry I am not a Photographer but here’s the latest photo dump...

Awesome setup. I am preparing to get back into the hobby with a nano and I love these dimensions and UNS tanks. This tank is inspiring me to expedite the start.

Are you still happy with the stand quality?
How wide are the holes on the side of the stand?
Any chance a PVC pipe could fit through if one were to drill an end of the tank?

Thank you! I am still super happy with the quality of the tank and stand, UNS is great from my experience.
it would be wide enough to fit 3/4” through. Here is a piece of 3/4” for reference, can’t find my tape measure right now, but I can get exact size for you.

Exact size is not needed, that is exactly what I needed to see. Thanks!

The tank survived the power outage we had from the huge storms Texas got. Didn’t have power for 5 days, but thankfully had a generator. Only thing that got real messed up was the Pink Lemonade Sylo.

Wife hated life during the outage! Because the fish had heat and she didn’t
Can’t add any fish or the clowns will kill them. They’ve killed a helfrichi firefish, which my wife witnessed and was traumatized.
Will be moving in the Juneish timeframe so starting to think and plan all of that out! It’s definitely going to be an adventure!

Tank update:
Currently staying in an AirBnB, tank is set up and doing good, kind of sucks the only place it fits is in our bedroom so I can’t keep my hands out of it. We sold our house and have now been here for a month and we still have 15 days till we break the tank down again and head to Fort Bliss. Bought a new stand for the equipment because the IKEA stand was a point of sale.
