Why the lighting change? Did you not like the Orphek bars?

Honestly I couldn’t get over the Reef Day having 1 orange bulb in the one side.
I like the ability to ramp up and down and adjust the kessil. Something I really didn’t have with the OR3 bars, and that 1 orange bulb drove me INSANE.

Growth has been about the same and I’m honestly thinking of throwing just the OR3 Blue Plus back on just to help reduce some of the shimmer and shadowing. Put it in the front and angle it to the rear.

Truth be told I wish the tank was 2 inches wider so I could get the ATI 6 bulb and be done with lighting. Tank is 12” wide and the 6 bulb is 13.4” wide. The 4 bulb is only 9.4” wide but I don’t know if that would be enough or what, never used T5 only LEDs and primary kessil.

Looks great thanks for the inspiration, I’m looking at this tank for a RBTA/ clown harem tank. They are growing like weeds in my main display and crowding out my SPS and monti’s. I like how you drilled the tank. I’m thinking about drilling on the side and doing a simple overflow and intake line in on the same side. So it’s super clean looking. Question for you, Did you find any data stating that they use tempered vs non tempered glass on any of the panels? I’d hate to buy the tank and drill into a tempered glass.
Thanks!

Thank you! Sorry for the delay we just completed the move to El Paso! But I actually got on the nano-reef forum and talked to them on their. I don’t know who manages it but they told me that none of the panes on this tank were tempered. You can get on their and message them if you want. They answered within a few days and were pretty helpful. If you have any other questions let me know!

I would contact orphek, you might be able to get a diode from them to diy a replacement in a different color, or you might be able send them the light bar and have them service it.

as for t5s - a 4 bulb would be fine on such a narrow tank I would think, six bulb would give you more bulb choices for blending spectrum though.

anyways - it’s such a nice little tank, I have a uns waiting to be setup still.

and El Paso is a cool town, I stayed there for about a year as a construction contractor at fort bliss

I contacted Orphek about it and they said it wasn’t worth the time, that it wasn’t that big of a difference. As soon as we get the rest of our household goods I’m going to put my Blue Plus back on, they should be here tomorrow! I’ll update with pictures as soon as I can!

Definitely make a build thread so I can follow along!

El Paso is much different than Killeen. Hopefully we are only here for a year as well. The good thing is they have a lot of saltwater fish stores here, they all just have crazy hours!

So it’s been a few weeks since we moved and the tank has adjusted pretty well. I had to cut off one of the arms on the live rock to make the move easier. I ended up using a Plank Medium automotive trunk, and routed a heater cord in it, and had a vortech on for circulation during the drive.
I lost the gold torch during the move, it was on its last leg anyways since I did the Safeguard dose to rid the tank of digitata hydroids. I also lost a no name SPS and both pepppermint shrimp, but I think the Valentini got them during the drive.
I don’t know why, but I think it’s due to the HVAC system before we moved I could never get my PH to hit 8.1 and it barely hit 8. Our old house the filter for the HVAC was inside the ceiling in our hallway. In the house we are staying in on post the filter is in a closet outside. Now my PH is barely ever under 8 and will hit 8.4 in the late afternoon. I still get a big PH swing and I haven’t found a way to combat that, even with only dosing Kalk at night I still get a swing of around .3-.4.
I added the orphek bars back to the tank, and taped over the orange bulb because I hate it, @Orphek, please fix this and even it out!!!!!
Everything looks good but now I’m currently fighting dynos or cyano, not sure and I don’t have a microscope. All the SPS are good minus my JF Flame which is colorless. But here’s a current photo dump:
Well it says security error so I’ll figure that out!

Ok so the BC Alligator snapper lost all of its green over time, probably a combination of the digitata hydroids, going from AFR to a calcium Reactor, and the Texas Freeze where a generator ran the tank for 5 days and the heater couldn’t keep up. I don’t know to be 100% honest. But since I started dosing some Korallen supplements it has gotten a lot of its color back.

The day I got it

There was a lot more blue light in the first picture but definitely looks better than it did 45 days ago and I’m contributing it to these 3 products, and maybe I shouldn’t, I don’t know, maybe someone reading this will chime in. 65E32A83-8486-4DC3-A433-716F57DEF431.jpeg

I’d like to get a Kamoer FX-STP but have no idea how I’d even set it up with such a difference between the day and night without having a significant shift. Hopefully someone will read this with more knowledge then me! Either way! It’s going strong I think!

So I made the plunge, tired of all the different LEDs and it just took away from the actual tank in my opinion, it wasn’t the slick look I was originally going for. 4 Bulb ATI 2blue+ and 2coral+.
I absolutely love color, it’s not as blue as the pictures. I was getting good growth and color with the LEDs but have always wanted to try T5s, so we shall see how this goes!

To be honest, I absolutely love the spread of light, and even blank of light with little to no shimmer. This is my first time with T5 and so far I love how it looks compared to LED. Pictures taken this morning with only 2X Blue+ With 15k filter, which is pretty close to accurate.

Great looking tank! I found your thread a bit ago doing research on UNS tanks. I have a a 75s build in the process but also considered the 90L. I also considered the UNS stand but went against it based on what you had to do to get a sump in. Great to see these tanks being shown off. There's only a few of that I'm away of on R2R.

Thank you! I wouldn’t have gotten the stand either knowing what I know now, so definitely don’t blame you! Looking forward to checking out your 75s!
