Got the blenny in the tank last night, and he's doing great. no aggression at all, and is already eating the algae from my tank! I don't think I'm going to get any more fish for this tank, but I may eventually get a cleaner shrimp. My voyager nano 2000 powerhead seems to have abnormal low flow so I contacted them to see what's wrong with it. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm also trying to decide if I should buy the intank media basket. It's on sale for only $32 now.

Just bought an intank media basket, seachem phosguard (My tank is having phosphate/algae issues), some AquaMaxx activated carbon, and mesh filter bags. marine depot's sight wouldn't let me choose free shipping, so it should all be here soon!

I made a big mistake. I aquaired more invasive corals!

along with the pulsing Xenia, I got another green toadstool. I'm going to a fellow reefer's house tomorrow to frag some zoa's, and in return, I get to have some for free.

tanks not looking so great. algae's been terrible since we went on vacation.

I also got some more corals including rasta and eagle eye zoa's, gorgonians, a some Monti's, and maybe a space invader. The guy I met to go frag with gave me two larger pieces of live rock for free so I used that to re-scape my tank.

Hard to tell but it may be a bristle worm. Just check to see if they’re the good kind, because if they’re not, they can become a real pest.

Thanks! I've never seen those worms in my tank before. I took it out and killed it just to be safe.

I started dosing hydrogen peroxide a couple days to try to get rid of the hair algae. It's been a couple days and I don't see a big difference. That being said, I'm dosing 2ml every 24 hours instead of every 12 hours. The seachem phosguard has been working well to reduce nutrients so hopefully that will also help eliminate the algae. I think something's wrong with my kessil, so I've been talking to them about what might be the cause. Some of the colors seem a bit off. Other than that, I've been getting some growth from my corals, and everything is doing great!

I finally got a spectral controller for my kessil. I bought the 0-10v cable to connect the controller to the a160 yesterday, and I got the controller the night before. I'm not really sure what color and intensity would be best so if anyone wants to share their programs for their controller's that would be cool. Also, I finally tried to remove my anemone that's been dying for months now, and it fell apart a bit. I replaced the carbon and all that stuff, and I'm going to do a water change as soon as I can.

I haven't updated in a while because I've been busy with school, but many things have happened in the past few days. On Sunday morning I was looking at all my fish and corals and couldn't find the mandarin. I looked for quite some time before checking the filter chambers in the back, and there he was! just sitting there next to the return pump. I got him back in the tank as quick as I could, and now he's doing just fine. On Monday, I woke up to a very sad surprise on the floor. My first fish loss. May you rest in peace Goby Wan Kenobi:(. On a happier note, I bought some vibrant to help with the algae. I haven't seen any differences yet, but I've only dosed it one time. The guy I bought the vibrant from also gave me some corals for free which was very kind.

I borrowed a par meter from a forum for reefers specifically in my area. Here's an image with approximate numbers for the par
unnamed.jpg

I've been dosing 2.5 ml of vibrant every three days, and so far It's eradicated every algae in the tank other than the hair algae. The sand bed is so clean!!!

I've also been considering getting a new fish now that the goby is gone. Here's a list of fish that I'm considering:

firefish
royal gramma
chromis
McCosker's flasher wrasse (or other small peaceful wrasse)
maybe another goby
maybe a hawkfish

The only concern with getting a wrasse is that it may eat all the pods in my tank, leaving my mandarin to starve which I do not want to happen.

I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that some of my corals aren't doing too well and I'm not sure whats causing it. Maybe the vibrant is making them unhappy, I've heard that can happen. I tried iodine dipping my space invader coral to see if that would help as it's almost all the way dead now, and I think it may have improved a bit. Also, I now have aiptasia which is making me very frustrated especially after having to deal with the hair algae. The good news is that the hair algae seems to be getting a little better, and finally the clownfish are learning what an anemone is after more than a year! they keep going over to it, swimming around it, and even occasionally going in it!
