Hey everyone I’m in the process of cycling my first saltwater tank. I bought a used 29 biocube to learn the ropes with at my local aquarium store. I’m currently on day 4 of cycling and don’t plan on rushing it.

As far as upgrades go I’ve ordered an ATO from intank and I’m thinking about getting a basic controller for it. I wish the GHL still sold the mini I’m currently on the lookout for something similar to that and also a used upgraded led for my current hood.

As of right now I plan to eventually stock my tank with different types of corals along with
Watchmen Goby
Picasso clowns
6 line wrasse

Here’s pics of where I’m currently at in my process.

For GHL would you just go with the GHL Profilux Light WiFi? I believe that is the equivalent of the Mini.

I’m not sure I’ve been trying to talk to someone at ghl all week to ask which model will fit my needs the best and to see if there’s anything new coming in the near future but so far no luck

Bought the first fish for the tank today and everything seems to be doing well. All my numbers are good and he is already eating within 10 minutes of being in the tank. Watching his pistol shrimp buddy dig tunnels will keep me busy for a while.

Havent updated in a while been busy with life. So since my last post i've had my yellow watchmen disappear. so first casualty.

I've been working on the reef pi computer and ran into a few setbacks due to time and what not so just ordered the ml hat to help me out with that.

Only other issues i've had is I thought I had an ammonia spike but I believe I ruled it out to be just be faulty API test equipment. I then got an salifert ammonia kit and it reads zero... however.... I do seem to have high nitrates so I cut my feeding amount down and bought the biocube protein skimmer. It did take a lot of messing with to get it working but for the price I think it does well seems to be catching some of the junk.

I bought several cheaper corals and once I get my computer going I plan on buying some mid tier corals to finish the tank off with.

heres my current stock

FISH
Coral Beauty Angelfish 29 DAYS $28
Frost Bite Clown 1 month 9 Days $70

I’ve had my tank for 9 months now and everything is going fairly smooth. I’ve been keeping up with more frequent water changes. I’m losing about 5 ppm of calcium per day. I’m staying close to 400ppm mg/L. And my alk is staying around 8 pretty well. My magnesium is usually pretty low. I bought a Jabo doser and have decided I’ll probably start dosing Quantum products to raise my calcium to 440, ALK to 9, and Mag to 1300. My tanks slightly overstocked so I may try to use the quantum nitrate reducer as well. I stay around 15 nitrates. I’m very satisfied with the overall Health of my coral. The indo dragon soul torch and most of my hammers are growing very well. (Dragon soul still one head for now, but my highlighter hammer has grown about 3 heads in 3 months. My zoas do very well also. Haven’t lost any zoas and they’ve been spreading pretty quick. If anyone has experience with Quantum products let me know how it turned out for you :)
