So aftermath of the 10h blackout. Temperature dropped to around 22.5-23 degrees Celsius, in contrast to the normal 25-26 degrees Celsius, the pretty rapid swing of temperature when it returned to normal seems to have annoyed one millepora enough for it to RTN. Rest looks like they’ve accepted the situation :p

Sad, but things like that happen, it was one of the grumpier acros even before the blackout so I wasn’t really surprised.

FTS from today, I think there’s a little too little nutrients available so the plan is to feed a little more every day.

And a few “stick the phone under the surface” shots, with no editing done, excuse the blue look :)

A little testing done today, overall mostly good, slightly low on Potassium, despite daily dosing of 1.5ml K-Balance.

Sg: 1.0245
Temp: 25.0
pH: 8.1
Alk: 7.5
Ca: 425
Mg: 1320
NO3: 0.50
PO4: 0.018

Measurable but low NO3 and PO4 are just what I want to see, that means I can keep feeding a little bit more to keep corals happy :)

Maybe someone has an answer for: Can I purposely "overdose" K-balance to raise Potassium? Weekly 10-15% Water changes seems to barely help (KZ Bio Reef salt). Say could I dose 2.5 ml instead and see what happens? Or is there something else I need to dose instead?

Other than above, things look pretty happy, fish are fat and active, PE is great, colors are a bit light (suspected low K+). I see growth, mainly encrusting, not super fast but it's there :)

Since everything has been looking good for a little while and no problems with fish. I decided to try my luck with a potters dwarf angelfish again after finding it at a LFS. It was a complete coward at the store, hiding and running as soon as other fish came close, but it was active, so I thought it might just be the aggressive tank-mates.

It has now been in my tank for just over 4 hours and is a little easily-frightened, but out and grazing on the rocks :p hasn’t really eaten yet, but that’s to be expected!

When my lights come back on tomorrow, I’ll post a picture :)

Started dosing CV, will see if it has any effect on corals. Plan is to dose 2 drops every second day.

Dosage will look like:
ZeoStart 0.15ml 2x daily
Zeobak 2 drops 2x weekly
Sponge power 2 drops every other day
Coral Vitalizer 2 drops every other day (alternate with SP)
Coral snow 1.7ml a few times per week to see if water clarity improves (it’s not bad atm)

Sg: 1.0251 (swaying over the day atm, nothing seems to suffer so far though, trying to get hold of a new sensor)
Alk: 7.8 dKH
Temp: 26.1 (min 25C max 27.1C Over the day... really hot here atm, 28-30 degrees C mid day, which is about 10-12 degrees hotter than usual this time of year)

Stay tuned for follow ups :)
Are you dosing zeofood or spongepower?

Spongepower, I dose 2 drops every other day.
I have Zeofood as well, but haven't dosed it for quite a while, last time I did I coincidentally had some kind of algae outbreak. May try again, but not for a little while :)

To get a clear picture of the Potters isn't easy  I wouldn't say it's camera shy, but "reserved"... ;Shy
JPEG image-A8EF3734228D-1.jpeg

Grazing on rocks and sand, no nipping on any corals ;Happy
Wouldn't say I've seen it eat when I've fed yet, but it did look like it picked some more on the sand after feeding, so maybe got some food from there anyways, looking fat and healthy at the moment, so no need to panic, yet

Happy to report that the Potters angel is alive and look really good :) Not really interested in eating frozen yet, but it's fat and healthy! No nipping yet either, which I see as a good sign :p

Corals are all looking good. I see some growth, mainly encrusting, but that's better than none! Above all - great PE!

Coloration is mostly good/great, with exemption of a few corals that are a little light. I guess just patience is in order

Placed an order for some acro goodies that should arrive in about a week and a half, really looking forward to that :D;Greedy

Since I've been feeding quite a lot more than before, I'm experiencing some kind of algae on the sand, most likely to be dinos or just regular brown algae. Will siphon it out tomorrow and see how it looks after that, otherwise I'll increase the dosage of start slightly, which worked last time :p

Will also try to decrease feeding a little bit

So today I got a shipment of nice little sticks [emoji51]

Almost impossible to catch the colors correctly, no editing done :)

“EC Rainbow Beast Mode” (incredible colors in person, yellow, pink, orange and purple)

:D

Todays agenda: 7% water change, and preparing some new Zeovit media for the upcoming change.

Everything is looking as it should, except for a Montipora Digitata that's showing no polyps and looking a little pale. This is a coral that I've never really had any luck with, despite it being a "simple SPS"

Suspects: Potassium outside of range / Low Mg.

I'll do some testing and see what it is

After some water tests:

Sg: 1.025
Ph: 7.9 (a little lower than what I'm usually seeing, probably due to the fresh water from water change)
Temp: 25.1°c
Kh: 7.5
Calc: 430
Mg: 1290
K: 370 (a little too low, but acceptable & better than the last few weeks)
NO3: 1
PO4: 0.03

Nutrient-levels are "high" for a Zeovit-system, but I have been feeding quite heavily the last two-three weeks. Thought I'd see phosphates at a higher level, but happy where they are at the moment.

Nothing in the parameters indicate what would be bothering the monti, and everything seems to love life :p

A little algae on the sand, but other than that just the normal growth on the glass.

A few close-ups of some corals, seeing growth in almost all of them, and coloration is pretty good!

I really should take off the frag-plugs, but I’m hesitant to remove all that encrusted tissue. Hopefully the growth will be good and they’ll be covered by the corals soon :p
