Hi all
Overnight my Midas blenny came down with a large white patch on its side. There is only one patch. She is eating and swimming normally. I just conducted a water change yesterday. I typically think of ich as being many small white dots as opposed to a patch. Any ideas what this might be or how to treat it? Thanks.

Well, that isn’t ich, or any of the other parasitic diseases. Looks more like a superficial scrape. Could it have gotten spooked during the water change and run into something?
I would just watch that it doesn’t grow larger or start to turn red.
Be sure to feed this fish well, multiple times a day, they tend to get skinny if you don’t.

My midas had that and went away in 4 days. Make sure your water parameters are good and monitor.

Thank you both. The white spot has turned a bit gray. Not sure if that means it is healing or getting worse but I will continue to monitor.

If it isn’t growing larger I’d say the color change indicates healing. Redness usually indicates inflammation.

Did you notice any change? My Midas has a very similar white spot and I believe he scratched himself because he’s always hiding in different holes in rockwork. Let me know if you did anything to help! Thanks!

Looks like blemish from post injury.

I just watched it to make sure it didn’t get worse and she fully recovered. I do believe it was a scratch from the rocks she hides in. Good luck with yours. I love them.
