Hey yall. I was going to get my first tang relatively soon, and decided I want a kole tang. I’ve seen pictures online or both blue eye and yellow eye and wanted a consensus on which is the better looking fish. My lighting will be relatively blueish.

Also wondering if there is any difference in temperament.

Can you Get a Yellow eye kole Tang?

I haven't seen them for sale since Hawaii closed. That may help make your decision.
I thought I saw one for 250 dollars but I may be mistaken. Now that I think about I may have to go with the blue eye since it’s significantly cheaper.

I voted blue eye just because I have one. I love them both. I will say that my blue eye tang is probably the most aggressive fish I have BUT having said that, the whole tank gets along just fine. But if I do ever see a fish chasing another away it’s 9x out of 10 going to be my blue eye two spot Bristletooth. I will also say that his colors are harder to see in my lighting. The pics are in the display and also a holding tank before qt

I have a 120. Hope that’s big enough. Will be the only tang.

Now that I’m finding out the yellow eye is probably out I’m looking at that purple. Too big/aggressive for 120? It will be the only tang.

I've had a yellow eye kole Tang. Under heavy blues, they do kind of disappear. I'm going to advise to take a look at a white tail Bristletooth. They are great workers, and look really good under our blue spectrums.
Thats a great option.

I love it a $20 fish for $250. Hawaii is one of the most socialist states we unfortunately own. Their ban is nothing less than a political ploy to drive more tax paying dollars from the mainland to their broken system. " And so far its worked". I personally would not purchase a fish from Hawaii and feed into this game. PS my favorite fish in the world is a healthy NASO but not paying $150 for a see through juvi.

I have one. Their light blue spots are pretty awesome (versus the lines on a Kole), kind of like a gem tang wannabe. Like people mentioned though, they won’t stand out and are more subtle in their beauty since they are a darker base color. Behavior is like all bristletooths.

A yellow in my LFS this week for the first time in ages. They are very placid, had one for a long time. I’ve got a schoolyard bully blue eye now. He don’t really cause damage, except to algae.
I like the autism is not contagious. built this beast for our son. Aspergers

I think that officially rules out the yellow eye. Whitetail and purple are now in the running with the whitetail in the lead. Terribly expensive though..

Yea that’s actually what my Lfs had. I might get one if they are in stock again. That being said is it better to buy online or from Lfs?

Imo, it's worth it's price. Where are you located? Rainbow aquarium and pond in Southern California had about 10, 2 weeks ago from an inch and a half to 2 and 1/2 in priced at $130..
