Hi everyone, I've noticed this blue spot in my blue tang earlier today. This started with smaller dark (not quite sure if it really started black). It's was eating well this morning and didn't even notice it this big until this afternoon.

It's been hiding on the rocks in the past few days and has been trying to reach out to the cleaner shrimp that we just got yesterday.

I panicked today as I didn't have a quarantine tank and the major meds aren't available here in Canada (ParziPro, Cupramine) and the LFS are about to close.

I have a 2g tank that rushed in setting up as a quarantine tank to isolate him from others.

This is the black spot on his left side.

I'm not quite sure what i'm dealing with and the possible medications that I could use. Any help would be appreciated.

I did a FW dip and the spot turned white

This is where it is staying at the moment. I was able to buy a sponge filter before the LFS closed today. Switched the sponge from my canister and improvised a bit just so it could survive at least tonight and will just do water change daily.

I think I also spotted a small white spot on my clown.

Should I put it on the QT tank together with the tang?

This appears to be post injury with a blemish rather than bacterial or internal but do keep an eye on it. If it worsens, you can use seachem metroplex added to foods or seachem neoplex
Is b fish eating?
How is breathing rate ( normal or labored)?

these fish startle easily and dive into rocks and cave like areas often injuring themselves

In my opinion: this does not look like any of the highly contagious fish diseases. It was already in the same tank as the clown, so they have already "shared" any disease that might be present. Then, you don't have any good medications due to being in Canada. To me, that all points to NOT moving it to an isolation tank which is going to be more stressful. Your best bet here is to limit stress in the tang and see if it can resolve the problem on its own.

Hey, I just fed it with Tropical 3 Algae Flakes a couple of hours ago and it seems to be eating normally.

I'm not quite sure about labored but the gills are moving but not as heavy as in my earlier video.

Yeah, it was just laying flat 90% of the time on that small tank that I transferred it to. I already moved it back to with the rest of the clowns and it's swimming normally it seems.

Thank you for the inputs. Will keep on monitoring this poor guy.

Hello, I have the same issue. What happened with your tang? I know it’s an old post but I still hope that you will see it
