Hi guys... so my daughter has been begging me to get a blue tang so this morning I caved and got her a small one... who immediately swam to my mp40 and got sucked in before I could pull out the powerhead.

its still moving, but its definatelty seen better days. The right side seems pretty mangled up. I moved it to a small breeder box with an air stone and a small piece of decoration so it can hide, but is there any chance it pulls through?

I’ve been trying to find a vet for my fish for years (I’m near Montreal). The only place that will take a fish as a patient is the Faculty of veterinarian medicine in St-Hyacinthe. They absolutely need to see the fish to prescribe anything and won’t do telemedicine. Which means you need to drive for 3 hours with your sick fish in a bucket to get to them.

It really sucks big time.

Not sure about there but in the states my vet told me it is a federal law that they need to physically see the fish/animal in person for certain tasks.

My guess is their license is on the line otherwise if it got found out.

Hi guys. Last update i guess... the Kanaplex arrived at day early so i started the treatment yesterday morning. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. Woke up this morning, and he was dead in his little hidey hole. After seeing how bad the dammage was up close, im amazed he lasted as long as he did. Thanks again for all the help.

This is not correct (at least not in all states) - Veterinarians have a wide berth when it comes to prescribing (more than MD's) - my (sister-in-law) - a vet - had a long discussion about this about 6 months ago. If you have a picture or better yet a video - (or a zoom call) - any veterinarian can prescribe an antibiotic - which was common during the pandemic.

My mistake it is a state thing. It seems like some places if your cat/dog has a yearly wellness, then the vet can do tele.

I was in Wisconsin at the time so I was SOL without hauling my fish in.

Correct - I think In most states - you cannot initiate a veterinary relationship with a virtual visit - for a number of reasons (like signing contracts, etc) - here is a list for others interested:
State practice act does not use or define a VCPRNY
A VCPR can NOT occur through telemedicine – i.e. you must physically see a veterinarian with your petCT, GA, IL, MS, TN, TX, UT, WA, WI
In order for a VCPR, the client & pet must have been physically seen by a veterinarian, or the veterinarian has become “acquainted with” the petAR, DE, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, ME, MN, MO,NC, ND, NM, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, WV, WY
The pet needs to have been physically examined by a veterinarian for a VCPRAL, AK, CO, CT, HI, NH, MD, MI, MT, NV, OR
VCPR is only valid for 1 year after pet has been physically examinedAK, GA, IA, ID, OR, SC, TN, WA, WV
Can use telemedicine to establish a VCPR & therefore obtain an online prescriptionAZ, CA, DC, FL, ID, NJ, VA, VT
Can use telemedicine for an opioid or controlled substanceNJ, VA
