On one side of my blue tang's tail, the yellow has faded to a whitish color. The rest of his colors are perfect.

It does not look like any type of growth patch on top of the flesh, it just looks like the yellow has faded.

Been this way for 2-3 days now. Any ideas?

Thanks

What types of food are you feeding it?
Frozen PE mysis with selcon
Frozen spirulina Brine with selcon
Ocean nutrition formula 2 flakes
Cobalt flakes
New life spectrum pellets
TDO chroma boost pellets
Reef nutritions ROE

it will not eat any type of algae on a clip. Even if I soak it in garlic or selcon.

I had a Blue Tang a few years ago in a 150 gallon, I noticed the color was better if I was feeding a varied Diet the color was subdued when feed only Mysis or only pellets, although it would eat Algae on a clip regularly. From the Pic the overall body of the Tang looks healthy, I would keep an eye on it. May be nothing to worry about!

Thanks. Maybe just a sting from a frogspawn or torch?

@Jay Hemdal any thoughts ?

@Jay Hemdal

It seems now that some black coloration is forming in the white area? Does this change the situation at all?

Here is another picture.

Could it be a run in with a bristle worm? I know she likes to sleep in the same cave as a big guy.

Thanks

Update for anyone following along:

The white area has shrunk and gotten paler (yellow is returning) and the black spots have turned darker but brown and more defined.

No new areas or symptoms have popped up. Eating like a pig.

Hoping this was just an oopsie with a rock/invert/coral and is healing on its own.

Will keep you all posted
